Hi I'm Sylvia

I've moved around a lot, spending over ten years in the Middle East. I am an amateur Arabist, artist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a lover of light (even before that Mumford song came out). I study photography at Brigham Young University. Photography is my passion...it helps me meet beautiful people with incredible stories, and realize the beauty of everyday life. In my study of light, I have discovered that all light comes from my Heavenly Father. Natural light is always more beautiful than man-made light, and that holds true when we consider the purpose of life--God's plan for us brings more joy that we could ever dream up for ourselves. He created this world, which offers resources, beauty, color, life...then imagine what is waiting for us in the life to come! I am currently serving as a full-time missionary in the Japan Tokyo South mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I have come to feel and know the teachings of Christ and His Gospel are true. I am Mormon because I know love, charity, and kindness is right. Because this Gospel makes sense. And because it's truthfulness has been confirmed over and over again in my heart, through the special feeling of the Holy Ghost which is accessible to everyone who seeks it. The light of Christ makes my vision clear and the future bright. Brighter than we could ever imagine.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying. Trying to overcome weakness, selfishness, anger. Trying to always be better and find good people and things to surround myself with. No one is perfect but we can always be trying. Life is for developing, learning, growing. In this sometimes slow and painful process, I have found that In a world that justifies complacency, my beliefs bring me hope and consequently, happiness.
