Hi I'm Debbie Apperson

I grew up in Ogden Utah, I LOVE to study and learn about Nutrition/health and exercise. I Ran my 1st 5k this year I am a Mormon.

About Me

At the ripe young age of 19 I met a wonderful man. We got married in the Ogden Temple. We celebrated 40 years of marriage this past June. We have been blessed with 6 beautiful children 5 daughters and 1 son, we have 12 AWESOME grandchildren. I LOVE gardening, reading, singing, LIVE THEATER.I love spending time with family, friends and most of all my grand children. I love traveling and learning about other cultures. I was diagnosed with a Genetic liver disease at the age of 22 so I have tried to take care of myself by eating well, getting exercise, and keeping mentally healthy. I think mental health is so critical to our happiness. I have experienced some trials in life that have been very challenging for me but knowing I have a Heavenly Father who cares about me, loves me and wants me to be happy has carried me through some pretty rough times. One of those trials was the loss of our beautiful daughter Heidi, who was killed in a car accident April 6th 1996. Again because of the firm knowledge I have of the fact that our Heavenly Father has a plan for ALL his children to come to earth receive a body, live life and learn life's lessons and return to him these truths have helped me to make it through life's trials. Honestly I am a better person because I have learned to rely completely upon my Heavenly Father for strength, guidance, comfort and peace.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into the church. That being said I also know that EVERYONE has to sooner or later find out for themselves through fervent, honest, sincere prayer if the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true or not.You can live on borrowed light for a while but at some point you have to find out for yourself. I was raised by a step father not always the ideal situation. Although he was a member of the church (joined because of my mother) sadly we did not have a good relationship. We went to church every week in fact we were the ONLY family in the pew 30 minutes before church started. I remember as a little girl feeling my HEAVENLY FATHERS LOVE FOR ME only when I was at church. It was my safe place it was my refuge. At 18 years old I read the BOOK OF MORMON for the first time in my life. In the book of Moroni 10: 4, It says " And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God the Eternal Father in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a SINCERE HEART WITH REAL INTENT HAVING FAITH IN CHRIST HE WILL MANIFEST THE TRUTH OF IT UNTO YOU BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST. 5 "AND BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST YE MAY KNOW THE TRUTH OF ALL THINGS." I received a powerful answer to my prayer when I asked if what I had read was true and was the word of GOD. The Holy Ghost spoke to my heart and as I continue to feed my testimony as I daily sup and feast upon his words I am ever grateful for the gift and blessing of further light and knowledge he has provided for each one of his children. We have been blessed with 6 beautiful children 5 girls, 1 boy. On April 6th 1996 our world was rocked at the lose of our beautiful daughter Heidi, she was killed in a car accident. Because we believe in ETERNAL FAMILIES through the sealing gift of the Priesthood performed in Gods Temples we KNOW we will be with our family for eternity as long as we live up to the covenants and promises we made with our Father in Heaven in his house

How I live my faith

My husband and I are currently serving a 23 month mission in Nauvoo Illinois. We have @ 22 months left. Prior to coming on this mission for the Lord I worked with the children in our ward in Fillmore Utah. I LOVED that 2 hour's I had each Sunday morning with the children. I love the innocence of youth. We sold our home, left our precious family and are having the wonderful opportunity of setting aside worldly cares and focusing 100% of our time to the service of the Lord. We start our days at 6 am and end around 11 p.m. Some people may ask why would you do that? Sell your home, leave your kids and grand kids.My answer to that question is We know that the Lord loves ALL his children and he wants ALL of them including YOU to hear his gospel plan. God doesn't expect us to try and make it in this life ALONE. He has given us blueprints to follow. They are available to ALL of us. I love people and I want to be a part of sharing Gods message with his children. Many years ago we brought our 4 oldest daughters here to Nauvoo. We wanted them to have an experience to learn about the people who had gained a conviction that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is true thus joining the church then gathering here to Nauvoo because they had been run out of Ohio and then Missouri because of their religious beliefs. We wanted them to gain a greater appreciation of all the pioneers and what they sacrificed for the cause of truth. What better way than to actually visit this beautiful historic town of Nauvoo. I never forgot the feeling I had and the spirit I felt when we visited years ago. I LOVE sharing my beliefs with any one who is open and who has a desire to learn about Gods plan for his children.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Debbie Apperson
We live in a world full of turmoil. The world doesn't offer peace in any way shape or form. People want to feel secure, and that everything is going to be okay. They want answers to their questions. The gospel of Jesus Christ answers those questions. "Why am I here?" "Where am I going?" "Where did I come from." People are observant of other people who seem to be grounded, happy, secure, who have something that the world does not offer. The gospel of Jesus Christ gives purpose to life. It gives people the assurance that we ARE HERE FOR A REASON, that God didn't put us on this earth without a map to show us how we could make it back to him. We are blessed with so many tools to help us in life's journey. We have the Bible, the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of great Price. Road maps if you will. We have a Modern Day Prophet President Thomas S Monson. I am so thankful for him as he receives direction from our Heavenly Father as to what we must do in our lives to be able to return to live with him again some day. We have Temples where if we have kept Gods commandments and are living worthy to enter his Holy House we can become forever families. We have the opportunity to attend our Sacrament meetings each Sunday and partake of the bread and water in remembrance of our Savior's atoning sacrifice to pay for our sins. Life will not be without trials but with God all things are possible! Trust him, lean on him, exercise faith in him. Show more Show less
