Hi I'm Sydney Lafferty

I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I plan on going to law school after serving my mission in Finland Helsinki. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Oklahoma in an area filled with mostly baptist. My whole family besides my mother and sister were baptist. My mother is the greatest mom and #1 teacher. She teaches first and second grade and is my amazing role model. My sister is a brilliant author and takes after my mother. Even though she is younger than me, I greatly admire her. I've played softball all my life. I loved being the catcher. I also enjoyed debate in high school. Debate quickly became one of my passions. Now I have big dreams of going to law school and becoming a lawyer after my mission. I am on my way to serving in the Finland Helsinki mission. I also struggle with my weight. I am in love with this gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember starting to come to church when I was about to turn 8. My mother had a testimony of the gospel since she was a teenager. So I was considered LDS at a young age. However, I feel that my testimony became my own in high school. I had a lot of people questioning me and some even telling me I was evil. I once even had a young man refuse to be debate partners with me because of my faith and what his church had told him about my beliefs. I have a desire for truth and knowledge and since so many people said I was wrong, I had to do my own investigating. I found the spirit so incredibly strong reading the Book of Mormon, all anti-mormon literature didn't hold up, and there were so many questions left unanswered that the gospel had answers to. I am a very logical person. If things don't add up, I have a hard time excepting them. The gospel made the most sense to me. I now can't imagine my life without the gospel. To have the Holy Ghost with me is one of the greatest blessings Heavenly Father could give us. And don't even get me started on how grateful I am for the atonement.

How I live my faith

My current calling before heading to Finland Helsinki for my mission is teaching primary. I'm over the CTR 7s. They are wonderful and eager to learn of Christ. They also teach me something new every Sunday. Soon my calling will be a full time missionary and I simply can't wait!
