Hi I'm Andrew

I love art and music. I love my family. I love being a Mormon!

About Me

To be honest I have an interest in almost everything. Sometimes I think I have too many hobbies, but I like exploring things. I play piano, guitar and more recently ukulele. I've been into origami and drawing since being very young. But the overarching theme to all this is that I love to create something new. I am one of five children and I love spending time with my family, they mean a great deal to me. Currently I am serving a mission for the church in South Africa, Cape Town. I have always wanted to be a missionary and to share that which has brought my family and I such great joy. When I return home, I will pursue a career as a Chemical Engineer, but my dream job is to some day be a Novelist.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of the church and can't imagine life any other way. I was brought up in the church and from a young age, the things I was taught made sense to me and I felt that it was good. But eventually I came to the age where I really wanted to know the truth. The life style I had was one that I wanted to continue anyway because it made me happy and I recognised the joy that was in my life because of it. So after beginning a scripture study course I prayed to know if the Church was the true church of Jesus Christ on the Earth. The feelings I received were unmistakably from an external source; feelings of peace and reassurance washed over me. The overall thought that entered my mind was "you already know, carry on." From that day my faith has increased and my love for the gospel expanded. I see the hand of God in my life, blessing me daily. I feel so grateful to have this amazing knowledge which lifts and improves me in all areas of my life. I am so grateful for my Saviour who has paid the price for my sins and yours. Understanding the Lord's sacrifice for me has changed my life and as I repent of my mistakes and strive to be better every day I feel my capacity to love increase in my day to day living. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's true church once again upon the Earth. And I know that the gospel message can bless every soul who hears it just as it has blessed my life and my family. As the world around me begins to slowly but surely break down and society's morals take a nose dive, I take great confidence in knowing that I have the template for a better life and the only person who I need answer to is my Heavenly Father. I love my Saviour, I love my family and I love being a Mormon

How I live my faith

My family has always moved around a lot, so it was difficult to fit into to every new area which we moved to. Everyone always had their little group that they'd known since they were two or something, you get the picture. I'm fairly used to being the new kid. Despite all this I've always found friendship and familiarity in the church and no matter where I go, the church is the same. I'm very much involved with all that goes on and find it difficult to remember a single week when I haven't been to church. I was involved with the great youth program we have for twelve to eighteen year olds. I have enjoyed going on hikes, camping and especially participating in group service projects. We've painted schools, cleaned up country parks and all sorts. Something that has really grounded me in my life is being a priesthood holder. When I was twelve, I began passing the sacrament to the congregation and later participated in the blessing and braking of it. To me, being a priesthood holder means being an example of Christ in both word and deed. This sacred responsibility has helped guide my life to always be like my saviour. As I mentioned before, I am currently serving as a missionary and will serve among the people of South Africa for two years. What is most exciting about this opportunity to me is meeting so many different people and then seeing their lives change as they come closer to their Heavenly Father and their Saviour, Jesus Christ. I know that God loves all of his children and I know that he loves me.
