Hi I'm Rulon

I am a Mormon. I grew up in the deserts of Southern Utah. I worked hard and tried to be honest in all I did. I love the Lord.

About Me

I am a son - the youngest of 4 children, a father of 5, and a grandfather of 8 so far. I am close to retiring from an international gas company. I served 2 years as a missionary in the Southwest USA for my church after which I served about 2 years in the military (Germany) as one of the last who were drafted in the late 60's. I have been married for 42 years to my best friend and ours is a story of discovery. I have travelled for work to 10 different countries and have lived in 6 states. My wife and I have moved 14 times. I am not a sports fan as such. My hobby is motorcycles. I have owned 12 over the years, 9 of them coming from a well known company in Milwaukee. I love to work on them, ride them, restore them, look at them, and so on. The feel of wind on my face has been needed since I was a very young lad. And, I am a Mormon through and through.

Why I am a Mormon

I thank God every day that I was born to goodly parents who were Mormons. Yes, I was born into the church. I was raised in a small Mormon community and most of my friends were Mormons. When I graduated for high school and went to a neighboring community college, I yearned for the friendship and belonging that I had felt in my younger years. Then, when I decided to become a missionary, and was called to teach those of Hispanic decent in the southwest US, I had to grow up a little and learn how to survive in places like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Oakland. I did grow up and my testimony of the truthfulness of the work grew too. I cannot say exactly when I was truly "converted" but by the time I left the mission field, my beliefs were fixed and clear. I searched for and found the girl of my dreams and we married in the temple. We have been united in purpose and locked in love for many years now. I cannot imagine what my life would have been like if I had chosen not to marry or raise children. I definitely cannot imagine what my life would have been like if I had not married the person I did. She completes me and makes me a better person. I thank God for her every day of my life. All who know me know what I believe. There is not a shadow of doubt in my mind that God lives and loves me. Jesus Christ is my brother and friend. He knows me and has helped me through troubled times giving me the strength to carry on. I will someday report to God the Father and tell him what I have done in this life and I know that when I do, Jesus will be by my side. I know this to be true and am so grateful that I have had the privilege to live my life among such wonderful people. I am so excited to see what comes next.

How I live my faith

My church experience and touched many aspects of life. I have been a teacher of both old and young. I have served in leadership and teaching positions in local congregations wherever we have lived. I have tried to show all with whom I have worked and lived how I believe a good Christian man and father should live.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

God is my Father and as a father has interest in me, his child. He is interested in my comings and goings. He helps me to understand the important things of life such as family responsibilities, honor, integrity, hard work, and being competent in our dealings with each other. He knows it all and is willing to teach me all He knows - a little at a time. And didn't I say it before, He is my Father. How cool is that? Show more Show less
