Hi I'm Gary

I taught high school. I was a plumbing contractor. I love target shooting and compititive rifle shooting. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired plumbing contractor. I have a full working woodshop with all the power tools and dust collection system. I also do light welding. I enjoy target shooting with both handgun and rifle. I build my own rifles for compitition shooting. I spent six years in the US Army Reserve during the Vietnam era. I played college basketball for one season while in the Army. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS degree in Industrial Education. I taught high school for five years and coached football and basketball during that time. I enjoy fly fishing out of a small pontoon boat with an electric motor. I hand tie my own flies. I love the outdoors and spend a lot of time at our cabin. I am happily married with four great kids who are also married. I have nine wounderful grandchildren. I have been married for 43 years. I love doing things with each of my children and grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

Just because I was born and raised in Utah, I still had to find out for myself if what I was being taught was true. I have read the Book of Morman many times. I have prayed and fervently ask our Heavenly Farther if what I read was true. He let me know through the Holy Ghost ( a warm peaceful feeling) that it was true. I have studied the life of Joseph Smith through the writings of both member and non member. I have again fervently ask God if Joseph Smith was a prophet. It was manifest to me again by the Holy Ghost that he was indeed a prophet of God. I have read and studied the LDS scriptures and know them to be true. I have witnessed mircles in the healing of the sick in my own family and to me personally. Because of personal sacred experience in my life I know that God lives. I know that He hears and answer prayers. I know that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God. I know that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God. If Joseph Smith were a fraud then the rise of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints would be the greatest mircle of all. I know that Thomas S. Monson is todays morden Prophet.

How I live my faith

I have been on our city's Planing and Zoning Committe where we acepted or rejected plans for residential and business propereties. I enjoyed being envolved with the planing of our city. I have been a Bishop (Pastor) of our congregation. It was a priviledge to help people with their spiritual and personal needs. I love helping both adults and youth with wood working projects in my woodshop. I enjoy the outdoors with my wife and family. We snowmobile and ride ATV's together at our cabin and other places. I am actively envolved in our church. I have accepted many assignments from our leaders. I attend church every Sunday for three hours. I have helped organize youth camps, and adult leadership training sessions. I visit three familiees at least once a month to check on their well being. I have enjoyed a four hour shift at an LDS temple once a week.
