Hi I'm Jim Carlsruh

I am from Milwaukee, WI, and graduated from U. of Maryland and BYU (MBA). I am retired following a career as a retail executive.

About Me

My wife and I have eight children and twenty-two grandchildren (as of 2014). We both wanted a large family (4 to 6 children) but God had other plans and that has been my greatest blessing. I enjoy biking with my wife, fishing with grandchildren plus watching Green Bay Packer football and St. Louis Cardinal baseball games.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by a Jewish father and a Mormon mother, and had great respect for both faiths and cultures. I stopped attending the Mormon church when I was 17 years old. My efforts to not believe that the Book of Mormon was scripture, Joseph Smith was a prophet and the Savior's church was restored to the earth were in vain. So, in my mid-twenties, I returned to church and later served a mission in Australia. I consider my testimony of these three things: 1) the Book of Mormon, 2) Joseph Smith and 3) a restored church of Jesus Christ, to have been given to me by the Holy Ghost, the same way I know that Jesus lives and is my Savior and the Bible is the word of God. This testimony is the foundation on which I have built my life.

How I live my faith

Serving others is what I, and people of all religions, strive to do. It has been my opportunity and pleasure to aid homeless families and individuals, be a scout-master, visit friends in jail, teach religion classes to youth and young single adults, place sand-bags when a river floods and be a friend.
