Hi I'm Kevin Ryan

I am from South Florida, living in Alabama. I'm an athlete, a musician, a future doctor, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey, my name is Kevin and I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and soon I will be a full time missionary for that same wonderful church. I report to the Mission Training center in November to prepare to serve in the L'viv Ukraine Mission. I love music and anything fun and athletic. I sing play the piano, guitar, ukulele and have a couple of songs on iTunes. I run long distance and parkour whenever and where ever I can. Just don't mess up when jumping off buildings, it really hurts. I was born in South Florida and lived in Fort Lauderdale, so anything to do with sun sand and ocean is awesome to me. I love board sports, be it skateboarding, wake boarding, stand up paddle board, or even snow boarding. I love the medical field and am planning on going into Family Practice to be a doctor. But what I love more than anything is sharing the Gospel with those around me. The Gospel has been such a blessing in my life and I feel a burning desire to share that with others.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this church is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that God chose to restore this gospel, the same church that Christ himself set up while he was on the earth, through Joseph. I bare testimony that The Book of Mormon is the word of God and was translated by the power of God. I know that We have a prophet on the earth today that leads and guides the church with 12 apostles who have all been called by God. I am a Mormon because I have prayed to know for myself if this is real. I came to a point in my life where I had to stop relying on my parents' testimony and chose for myself if I really believed. I prayed, and I can sooner deny the physical existence of the computer on which I am typing this than deny what I felt that night when I asked God for myself If the Church was true and If Joseph Smith really was a prophet. I can only describe the feeling I had as a burning in my chest, not painful, but exhilarating and filling. I felt so happy and excited. I can not deny that and I can not, and will not, ever deny the truthfulness of the Gospel because I know in my heart, not in my mind. Nobody "proved" it to me. No one logically explained how or why. Instead the spirit of The Lord testified that to me in my heart in a way I will never forget. I believe that the path back to God and Heaven is simple, but in no way easy or something to be taken lightly. Faith, repentance, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins by someone holding the proper authority of God know as the Priesthood, and continued faith through life's trials and tribulations holding fast to God's teachings and commandments is the only way back into our Father in Heaven's embrace. It is not easy, but it is pure and simple truth that we can all rely on when life gets rough. I know that God lives, and I know that Christ set up a church when he was on the earth which has been restored. This is why I am a Mormon, and this is why I am a missionary.

How I live my faith

I love the Gospel and so I have decided to serve a mission to give that gift, which has been such a blessing in my life, to others. For the past 12 months I have served as a "Branch Missionary" which is just like a formal assignment to spread the gospel in your community. To do this I have consistently gone out with the full time missionaries in our area and participated in teaching and contacting people with them to help bring others to Christ about 6-10 hours a week. I attend church every week that I can and love it when I get the opportunity to teach. The Gospel is, for lack of a better word, awesome! I get so much strength from Church and sharing this gospel with others. Recently I received my mission call to go serve in Ukraine in the L'viv mission, and I look forward to the many wonderful experiences I will have serving The Lord in that part of the world.
