Hi I'm Alex

I live just outside of Seattle, Washington. I'm serving a mission for the Church in Mexico. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah, before moving to Austin, Texas and eventually settling down just outside of Seattle, Washington. I have 3 little brothers and a mom and dad in my family and I love them all very much. I'm 19 years old currently serving a mission for the church in Mexico, but afterwards I will be pursuing a double major in biochemical engineering and business statistics at Brigham Young University. I am an avid NFL fan, and watch every game that I possibly can. My favorite team is the Seattle Seahawks, and I love watching them beat up on the competition. I love all sports in general; I played basketball and ran track and cross country all throughout high school. I love just being out in nature, and try to mountain bike or hike the trails in the beautiful Pacific Northwest around my home often. I love life in general and try to make the most out of every day.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon. I love this church because every doctrine that is taught and everything that I learn is exactly how I would imagine it being. Like, everything new I learn, I'm just like yeah that makes sense, God does really know what he's doing. I have been a member of the church my entire life, but at the same time I wasn't really a member of the church until I hit high school. When I started high school I decided that I should actually find out if this was for me, rather than just going to church with my family every week. I studied the gospel, I studied the scriptures, I studied the teachings of Christ, and I prayed. I prayed all the time to God asking for answers. I can say without a doubt now that I know this church is the true church of Jesus Christ, just as he wanted it to be organized when he was on the Earth. I know that all of the answers to life's questions can be answered through this church. Through this gospel I have developed a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father and know that he loves us more than we will ever be able to comprehend. I know because of this love that Heavenly Father gave us a plan where we could come to this Earth to learn and grow and then return back to live with him, and our families forever. Faith is so important to me, as it says in the Book of Mormon, "Faith is not a perfect knowledge of things...[rather] if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true." The gospel of Jesus Christ has shaped my life, and inspires me to change and try to be better every day.

How I live my faith

Before I left on my mission, I was the leader of my ward's youth group which was an awesome experience to be able to interact with all of the youth ages 12-18 and organize activities for our youth group to do every week. Now, I have the opportunity of teaching people and helping them in Mexico. I have been called to serve Jesus Christ and try to better people's lives in Mexico. Whether this will be through teaching them about their Heavenly Father who loves them, and Jesus Christ-his perfect life, his sacrifice for us and what it means-or helping someone on the street carry their bags, I have been called to make people's lives happier.
