Hi I'm Shahar Lawrence

I'm Colombian, Lebanese, and American. I am a multi National Champion Equestrian. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 year old college student studying Social Work and Leadership, I work two jobs, I ride horses, play the piano and harp, and I'm a green belt in karate. I have won countless local and regional titles in the Arabian Horse Association Competition World. I have also won Youth Nationals Top Ten in Side Saddle and Western Pleasure, Canadian Horsemanship Reserve Champion, Canadian Ladies Side Saddle Champion twice and Canadian Western Pleasure Champion twice.

Why I am a Mormon

With every trial I have had I have been able to see God's loving hand helping me through it. I try to picture my life without my Savior and God, and I know I wouldn't still be here today if it weren't for them. I choose to be a Mormon because it comforts me when I have no one else and it gives me blessings that I know I could never receive on my own.

How I live my faith

In the horse world they do many things that are contrary to my beliefs. For example, at Youth Nationals every year they have one of my competition divisions on a Sunday. The ten commandments say that we should keep the sabbath day holy. Therefor I chose not to participate in that division, because I don't want to lose the blessings from breaking the commandments. It is also very common to have beer throughout the day, and wine at dinner. I have been offered drinks before but I have chosen to respectfully decline. No matter how many people are doing it all around me. I have chosen to live as closely to the guidelines of the gospel as possible.
