Hi I'm Chris

I'm a computer nerd, a language nerd, and a ski bum. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

While I am from Hagerstown, Maryland, I am currently a student in Idaho. I am studying Informatics, which is pretty much IT with an emphasis in accounting. I also am minoring in Russian. When I'm not a student, I love spending time with family and friends...and of course coding. When winter rolls around I am nowhere to be seen but on the mountain, striving to get those first tracks in the freshly fallen snow. There is nothing quite like skiing- the fresh and cold air, the snow, the scenery. I really can't describe it with words, but many times the mountain is my sanctuary. My other interests reside in philosophy, spoken languages, and music. I do play guitar and piano and I really do love it. Fun fact: I am a HUGE fan of any stained-glass bluegrass.

Why I am a Mormon

It is true, I have been a Mormon for my entire life. However, I did have my own conversion experience. I feel that every Mormon has to have that. I grew up with wonderful parents who loved me and taught me the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For the most part, I feel that I leaned on their testimonies when I had my doubts- after all, they are older and with age comes wisdom, right? Going through high school, I did have my doubts about the church. I really didn't know what to believe, or how to believe. Luckily, my parents taught me how, and I relearned it when I served a mission for the Lord. Prayer is an essential part of finding out truth- and this even applies to the sciences I feel. I know that God answers prayers, because he has answered so many of mine. When you find yourself in times of trouble, know that there is merciful Father in Heaven who is waiting to bless you, and he is eager to hear your plea.

How I live my faith

I am currently a ward mission leader and I am loving it! While there are many members of the LDS church in the town I currently reside in, there are still so many ways to love and serve others. I love to serve others, there is always a good feeling you get when you go out of your way to help others. Even when you are having a busy or sad day, there is always happiness to be had in serving other people. I promise when you are glum, when you help people, you will instantly feel better; and when you serve others, you begin to love them.
