Hi I'm Jared

I was born in Utah and raised in Pennsylvania. I am an Eagle Scout. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was a typical teenager. I was too cool for my parents and School was too easy for me. My favorite parts of the day were when I finished my work so I could read a book. The highlight of my school career was playing for the Marching and Concert bands for my High School. I got the solo my senior year. I was not happy. I seemed to be just going through the motions. I got a job at Chick-fil-A and was still not happy. I went to church, but my mind was elsewhere. I didn't really read my scriptures and didn't really pray. It was getting close to when my mission call was coming. I hadn't really done anything to prepare besides get some clothing. The day after my 18th birthday I got my mission call to the California Bakersfield Mission. It was like a light bulb had gone off. I suddenly realized what I had been missing in my life. I knew that change was necessary. I started paying attention in Church and trying my best to participate. I prayed with real intent. I started reading my Book of Mormon. Suddenly, all those gloomy days seemed to go away. As a pray and read daily, I come closer to my Saviour. I am a missionary, a lover of uplifting music and I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that my Savior knows and loves me and everyone else. I know that His gospel has been restored to the Earth and I know that the Priesthood has been restored to the Earth. If I had not come to Church, read the Book of Mormon and known what prayer actually is, I would have never changed. I would have no reason to change. The values and beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints encourage us to grow and change. They have helped me become a better man and a better person. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Faith is not a passive thing to me anymore. Before I really knew what faith was, I thought it was just belief that God is real and that he Atoned for our sins. Here on my mission, I have finally figured it out. Faith is an action. It is a desire. It is a desire to know what God whats you to accomplish and how. I show my faith by my works. I didn't really pray. I didn't really read. I wasn't fully aware of why church was necessary. Then when I put forth the faith and the effort to read and to pray and to actively attend my Church meetings, I came closer to my Heavenly Father. I had that desire to know his plan for me and did my best to show that I was willing to do his will. I live my faith now by reading and praying everyday. I am now serving him as a full-time missionary in the California Bakersfield Mission. I have come to know that my Savior lives, and I do not want to ever forget that.
