Hi I'm Ruth

I grew up in Scotland, I'm a young carer for my dad who has a brain tumour. Now, I'm heading off on a mission. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I'm 19 years old and for the last few years have been a young carer for my dad who has a brain tumour, I have also completed my bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh awards and have completed my first year of college to train as a Nursery Practitioner. I love walking with my dog lucky. I am dyslexic however I don't let that stop me as I love reading books especially adventure stories. I also like to write my own short story's.

Why I am a Mormon

I am unique in the fact that I am a 3rd and 4th generation Mormon here in Scotland. My great grandparents on my mum's side joined the church when my gran was 12 and we as a family have been active ever since. Likewise my grandparents on my dad's side also joined the church and served missions for the church. I have a long line of pioneers here in Scotland who have influenced my life through their decisions to become a member of the church and now its my turn to be one of the generations in the hope that my grandchildren and great grandchildren will look back and see our legacy of faith and example and follow in the footsteps of Jesus and our ancestors.

How I live my faith

I've grown up in the church its all I've ever known and I am truly blessed as I have many friends who have not had this experience and have struggled in the areas where the gospel and my parents can and have helped me. I currently serve as Primary Chorister (children from 3-11), Visiting teacher (I visit ladies at home with a message of hope and see where I can serve them), Tuesday night Activity coordinator (activities for 8 -11 year olds), young single adult representative in relief society (girls from 18-30) as well as a Ward Missionary (I love to share the gospel at any and every opportunity). As a child (8-11) I completed my Faith in God programme which helped me to study my scriptures and develop morals and values I continued this practice by completing my Personal Progress (12-18) and even completed it to an honours level at the same time I completed a 4 year scripture study course called seminary and am currently on a new study course called institute. Scripture study is a large part of my life it helps me guides me and gives me courage to face hard or dark times with faith.
