Hi I'm Landen

I'm a Mormon. I have lived in Utah for most my life. Was raised in the LDS church by friends and extended family.

About Me

I love sports, they have helped shape who I am through leadership and teamwork. More specifically, I have played baseball, basketball, and american football. I attended one year of college at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, UT. Through hard work and accomplishing some college classes while in High School, I now have my associate degree in Chemistry. I am currently working towards a pre-med degree to become an orthopedic surgeon. I received a mission call to Salta, Argentina back in July and head to the Provo, UT MTC on December 3rd this year. I am very excited to serve the Lord's Church for 24 months in the country of Argentina.

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought into the church by my extended family and some close friends. I was baptized at the age of 8 but did not understand the true weight and responsibility that was placed on my shoulders. My parents are inactive members and have been my whole life. They are not against the teachings of the Gospel but believe that it is not a priority in their life. I attended church every so often before the age of 12 but did not have a testimony or a very good knowledge of the church. I was then invited to a week long scout camp with a friend of my from the ward. I was hesitant but my mom urged me to go because she thought it would be good for me. It was the greatest week of my life and by the end of the week I had made a bunch of new friends. That final day, all the young men had a devotional around the fire and got to share our testimony. I had a feeling to stand up and share and I acted on it. I then made a promise to attend church and by the end I was crying. Afterwards I got this overwhelming feeling of peace and felt something I had never felt before. It scared me at first so I asked my friend what it was. He told me it was the Holy Ghost. Brothers and Sisters, I testify to you that Heavenly Father is very much real and always with us. He will always love us and be there for us through the highs and lows. There will be days that you feel like you have messed up and you think He is ashamed of you. I promise you that isn't the case, which is why he sent down his son Jesus Christ. Through his everlasting atonement, we can become whole again. I have witnessed this first hand and it has helped me in ways I never thought possible. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will always love us and protect us as long as we show faith in them and strive to keep their commandments they have laid before us. I know this to be true and say it in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I have participated in my ward through many youth activities when I was younger. My mentors in the church have always been my leaders during youth activities and have helped raise me into the man and future missionary I am today. Many of those past young men leaders have gone on to become leaders in our ward such as Bishop's and their councilors. I have taught those lessons to some of the new youth in my ward and are helping them prepare for there own mission calls. I have been called to be a councilor in my youth group when I was 12 and have had the opportunity to participate in home teaching events with older leaders from my ward. It was a great experience learning from those great leaders and learning how to effectively teach a topic.
