Hi I'm Karen

I grew up as a military kid. My parents are divorced and both are remarried. I am very optimistic about life and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised as a military brat. My parents divorced before I was in middle school and i lived with my sister and dad. I became surprisingly responsible for my young age as i helped watch my sister more and more. My biological mother soon left the church and remarried. Few years later dad started dating a woman who soon became my mom and along came the 2 little brothers i always wanted. As a blended family things were difficult at first but became easier as time went on. Alot of this was due to our faith as a family in the church. It was this mom that encouraged my faith, schooling, and success. With her help as well we were able to diagnose my sister as High Functioning Autistic and get her the help she would need during school and her later future. Adjusting to this new found fact has taken alot of patience but Looking back now it has strengthened me and my family. I am getting ready to leave for a mission and then will come home and go to college in pursue of a degree in pediatric nursing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised Mormon. As i grew up i was taught the things of the Gospel. I never really questioned the things my parents taught me but as my parents divorced and my Biological mother left the church, I began to search for myself if what I grew up to know was true. I began to work more diligently on my personal prayer and scripture study. The more often I did so the better my days seemed to be. The more joy i seemed to feel in my life. By the time I was fourteen i decided i needed to pray. So I prayed to know if it was true. If Christ died for us, for me; if Joseph Smith truely was a prophet and translated the Book of Mormon. I didnt feel like I had been hit by a truck, nor did any miracles occur. Instead I felt warm, I felt so much joy that I wasnt sure if i wanted to cry or laugh, and I felt in my min a voice saying "you already know". Since Then i have never questioned my faith. I have always known that this Church is true. While many question the truth of the things that are taught and the history of the church and its legitimacy, I always remember the feelings it creates within me. I also remember that the perfect Gospel of the Lord is in the hands of imperfect people. The Lord LOVES us. So he gives us guidence and comfort so that we can return to him and be eternally happy.

How I live my faith

Call me crazy but I really love to attend my church meetings regularly. I help out where i can, when i can. This often includes going on splits with the missionaries. In fact this has been a help for my personal preparation for the Mission I am will soon be serving.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Karen
The Word of Wisdom is a set of spiritualy inspired set of commanments. This emphasizes the importance of personal physical, mental and nutritional health. The importance of proper eating and exercize is expressed to keep the body strong and healthy. Good sleeping habits and learning is also encouraged to keep the mind healthy. This law of health was revealed to Joseph Smith before modern technology and studies revealed the harmful effects of drugs, alcohol, and coffee. We are promised that as we do things to keep our mind and body strong, pure, and health, we will be blessed with joy and strength that we otherwise may not have. Show more Show less
