Hi I'm Natalie

I'm a mom. I'm a blogger. I'm a builder. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 3 children. I love to build furniture and decor items for my home. I love being in the garage with power tools and taking the simplest bit of wood and building it into something great and useful. And once I'm done with that, I blog all about it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I feel in my heart, that this is Christ's church. When Christ was on the Earth, he established a church with Prophets and Apostles who had the keys of God's Priesthood. He set up a church, which required its members to sacrifice sometimes. He encouraged his follwers to help the poor and needy. I believe that our Latter-Day Prophets and Apostles hold the same keys of God's Priesthood as Christ held. God would not leave us walking without purpose or direction. He loves us. And wants us to return to live with Him someday. I know that we can live with Him again. And I believe that through the blessings of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and though the power of God's holy Priesthood, our families can be eternal after this life. I know that if we will follow Christ's teachings and his example to serve the poor and love our fellow men, that we will be blessed in this life, and in the life to come.

How I live my faith

I serve in my ward as the Primary President. I am in charge of all the children, ages 18 months to 12 years old within my ward. My ward has a pretty big primary, with about 100 children. Of course I have helpers. I have teachers and other leaders who make my job pretty easy. In primary, we help the children learn and love the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. We teach them through lessons, games, scriptures, and songs. We assist local leaders with the scouting program, and prepare the kids for all that they will experience in their lives. I hope that I am doing my part to help them have a sure foundation, built on the gospel of Jesus Christ. I hope that when they are in a tough spot in life, they will remember something they learned in Primary, and it will help them to become closer to their Savior.

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Christ lived his life serving the poor and needy. He is our perfect example. I don't think we can become truly Christlike until we learn to serve those in need. Sometimes people come across hard times. I don't think I know a family who hasn't had financial struggles at one time or another. The Church has created a way for its members to help and serve others who are in need. By giving generously of ourselves, we can help others who need a little pick-me-up. The welfare services in the church are what, I think, Christ would have set up if he were on the Earth today. It is a system of giving and serving, but also of training and teaching. The welfare services of the Church are not designed to be freebies, where one person can stay on assistance for their lifetime; but rather as a way to help someone regain their ability to provide for themselves. Being self-reliant is a HUGE part of the LDS faith, and the welfare system helps to create more self-reliant people. Show more Show less

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Husbands and wives are to love each other, and teach that love to their children.Husbands and wives should be 100% committed to loving each other, and should show that love to each other often. Men and Women are very different, not just physically, but also spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Both husbands and wives are so important in the structure of a family. In my family, we need my husband to provide, protect, and lead our family. And they all need me to be a peacemaker, a creator, and a nurturer. All husbands and wives don't have the same rolls as my family's, but a husband and wife should work together, and compliment each other in the great task of raising a family. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

I cannot imagine Heaven without my husband, my children, my parents, and my siblings. I cannot imagine that God would create a paradise for us, and not include those who we hold so dear in this life. I believe that family relationships are not meant for just this life. Families are meant to be together forever. Husbands and wives are meant to live and love each other now, and through the eternities. Through the blessings of the temple, and the ordinances of the Holy Priesthood, I know that my family can be together for this life, and in the eternities to come. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

I serve as the Primary President in my ward (local congregation). I, along with several teachers and other leaders, am responsible for nearly 100 children, ages 18 months to 12 years. Serving in this capacity takes a lot of time and effort. I did not volunteer for this position, I was called by my bishop to serve. My duties to my church are not my "job". I do not get paid for anything I do in the church. In fact, I serve AND pay tithing.... but I would not have it any other way. Christ spent his entire life serving and teaching. I believe if we want to be like Christ, we will spend our time doing the same. Serving in my calling, and doing the best I can, is one of the ways I can show Christ that I love him, and that I want to be like him. It is my privilege and my honor to be able to serve him by serving those around me. Show more Show less
