Hi I'm Dayna

I love to make bread.I love to use spinach in different ways. I am mother of 6 children, 5 crazy boys and 1 wonderful daughter.

About Me

I am 64 years old, and love being this age. My children are all grown and gone and the dog has died, so my husband and I are free to roam. I figure we have about 10 years before we will want to stay home so I have created a bucket list. My husband tells me I have itchy feet. There is so much of the world to see I think we will be busy. I love to grind wheat and make bread and cookies. I really like to mend clothes. My kids think that is qreat because they can send me all their mending. I love childrens books and have collected quite of few of my favorites. Life is good.

Why I am a Mormon

To begin with, I am a Mormon because of my heritage. My ancestors choose to join the church in Denmark and the New England area in the 1880's. Some of them knew Joseph Smith. They overcame the hardships of being persecuted for their faith, traveling to the Rocky Mountains with the pioneers. They started new towns in the desert areas of southern Utah. They endured many hard times but they lived this way because they loved the gospel. The gospel gave them a joyous reason to live their lives enduring the hardships. The Church teaches us that each of us is important to our Father in Heaven. That each of us has a plan for our life, a greater reason to be here on this earth and that happiness for eternity can be ours if we follow Christ’s example and keep His commandments. Everyone has to make the choice to follow Christ for themselves. I did. The Gospel brings me peace, and a lot of joy. I really like having Jesus as my best friend. I trust him. This is not saying that life has not been hard, full of challenges and trials. But because of my knowledge that there is a bigger picture, that we have a loving Heavenly Father and “that this too shall pass” there is peace and hope always in my heart. The things I care about in my life are my relationship with Christ, the love of my family, and right now learning Bulgarian for our mission there. I am a Mormon because that is where my heart and soul wants to be.

How I live my faith

I love my Savior and so I try to live my life and make choices as he would want me to. I really enjoy the joy and peace that the gospel brings into my life. I seek for ways to feel his guidence so that I can be his earthly hands in helping others. It has been an adventure to see where following His promptings has led my husband and myself. It has been a joyful ride. I love being a mother. I have 6 children and they have sometimes been a struggle but mostly a joy. Now I have 8 grand kids and they are the best part of life. Because we are an eternal family I will always have these loved ones with me eternally. This is one of the many promises the gospel gives. Very happy promises. Soon my husband and I are headed to Eastern Europe to share the gospel of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I am both excited and scared. Trying to learn the language has been very hard. We have very old brains you know. But to be able to teach about the joy that comes from making the choice to follow the example of Jesus Christ and to keep his commandments will make this hard work worth it. My faith directs my every thought and deed. I share this through teaching gospel lessons at church, visiting others in their homes, and volunteering in my town. My Savior wants me to loose myself in service. He needs my earthlly hands to help others. That is how I try to live my life.
