Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a wife, mother, friend, animal trainer, and birth doula. I am a California girl living in Arkansas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in California and moved to Utah to attend BYU. I earned a bachelor's degree in biology, and almost minored in geography. I married my best friend and we have four children. We have moved a lot and have lived all over the country. I spent a number of years training horses and teaching horseback riding lessons. I've also worked with animal shelters fostering and training dogs. I am a birth doula in training to become a midwife. I also work as a ppc and marketing specialist, and homeschool all of our children. My favorite things are talking about the gospel of Christ, chocolate in all of its forms, and being with my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and baptized when I was 8. I learned a lot growing up, but really gained my own testimony of Christ's gospel during my college years. Those were hard years for me, and yet the love of God never left me. When I was ready to really learn the depth of the gospel, He was there to teach me. I know that Jesus is the Christ, and that He lives and loves each one of us, independent of everything else. I know that He has restored the precious parts of His gospel through the Prophet Joseph Smith and other prophets which he has called and set apart to lead and guide us in these days. I know that He still talks to us, not only through His prophets, but also individually through the Holy Ghost, the comforter He promised to send. I know that the Book of Mormon is a true record of the people who lived on the American continent during and around the time of Christ's birth. I know this because I have read it, and asked to know whether it was true or not. Not only did I receive the testimony of its truthfulness, but that testimony is renewed as I read every day, and I can feel the love of my Savior as I do. It has changed my life and brought me more peace than I could have ever found on my own.

How I live my faith

I love serving in my local ward. Currently, I am an extra meetings coordinator for the women's groups, but I have also worked with the youth, taught children's and adult classes, and been the local emergency preparedness coordinator. Outside of my church service, I love talking about the gospel of Christ and how it applies to our lives. I feel like every day is a day to learn what Christ's love means for me and my choices, not just Sundays. I try to pray and read my scriptures every day, and teach my children to do the same, so we can have the greater light and knowledge that comes from the Spirit as we try to find and follow Christ every day. We are primarily spiritual beings having a physical experience, and our lives can been filled with joy as we learn to reflect that great truth in our daily adventures.
