Hi I'm Marissa Rushton

I was born into a home full of love and service. I love music, people, and Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I attend college at BYU-I and am majoring in marriage and family studies. My plan is to get a masters in counseling and become a women's counselor. I hope to someday learn sign language and work with those who can not hear as well, but my ultimate goal in life is to become the best mother I can be, that is, when I have children. I'm a singer. I am a reader. I love meeting different kinds of people and learning about culture and religion. I am passionate about people and truly believe that love is a superpower. I am the youngest of 5 children, and have 6 nieces and 3 nephews whom I absolutely adore. To me, family is one of the most important aspects of life. This is why I am dedicating my studies to do may part in defending the importance of families.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and have always had the blessings of the gospel. Although that is not why I am a Mormon. I do not choose to be a member The Church of Jesus Christ to please my parents or family or friends or anyone else. I choose to be and stay a member because I have read the Book of Mormon and I have studied Joseph Smith and the Bible and have come to know through my experiences and through earnest prayer that this church is the only true church on earth. I know that it is lead by Jesus Christ through modern day prophets. I know the Book of Mormon is the true word of God and was translated through the power of God by Joseph Smith. I have come to know these things by praying to God and asking for myself. I have received answers by God through the Holy Spirit. God always listens to our prayer and answers in his own time. He loves us so much, I have felt that love countless times and I promise that if you pray to God and ask to feel his love that you will. I am who I am because of this gospel. It makes me a better me. It is a gospel full of truth, growth, and love. I also know that my family will not just be together for this lifetime but for all eternity through the ordinances and covenants that accompany this gospel. I know that Christ is my Savior and died for me so that I may live with him and my family again. That is if I do my part by repenting of my sins and enduring to the end in righteousness. I love this gospel and how it blesses my life and many others lives.

How I live my faith

I attend a church school at the moment and as such the Holy Ghost is constantly near. I am serving in my ward as a music chorister for sacrament meeting. Music has a profound power to invite the spirit wherever you are. As of January 11th I will be serving for 18 months as a full time missionary in Texas. I cannot wait to be able to share with my spiritual brothers and sisters the plain and simple truths about why we are here and where we are going. I believe that loving others is the best way to live your faith. As we love and serve everyone, we are doing as Christ would do if he were here on the earth. This gospel is a gospel of love. Scripture study and prayer are how I live my faith on a daily basis. The power that comes from reading the Bible and Book of Mormon is a strength to my character as I make daily decisions. Also including God in my daily life through prayer helps me to feel his spirit stronger and to know more clearly what it is that he would have me be.
