Hi I'm Makayla

I grew up in Southern Utah. The arts are my passion. I love the outdoors and everything to do with being in nature. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest kid of 4 in my family. I grew up playing soccer and have played for 14 years until I graduated from high school. My true passion in life is art. I love to create and mix feelings with colors to make masterpieces. My ultimate dream is to someday create something so great that someone else would want to pay for it, because who doesn't want to be paid to do what they love right? I enjoy spending my time outdoors as much as possible and especially love discovering new hikes and challenging myself. I'm afraid of heights. However, I find it a silly fear to have so I try to challenge myself by going on hikes and what not to overcome that fear. Right now I am currently getting ready to start an amazing adventure by serving a mission! I am always looking for new adventures and challenges to overcome and love the feeling you get when you are able to complete them. I love spending time with my close family and friends and they are the most important people in my life. My career goal is to become a personal trainer so that someday I may create my own healthy lifestyle program to help people live healthier lives. One of my favorite quotes I live by comes from Gandhi and it states "Be the change you wish to see in the world" and I strive to do that each and every day.

Why I am a Mormon

Although, I was born into the church, I never actually gained a testimony or understood what it meant to be a Mormon until the age of 13. Me and my sister were raised most of our childhood by my single mother and faced many trials and afflictions. When my mom married my dad we found the light of the gospel again through his example. My dad was a convert to the church and had such a powerful testimony it carried our family and strengthened us to finally become and eternal family through the temple when I was 11 years old. It was that year that I gained my personal testimony of what it meant to be a Mormon. I started striving to live those values the church offered and I could see the difference it made in my life. I felt a completeness and a peaceful feeling. I believe that even those born into the church must go through a personal conversion to the religion or they will fall away. Just like with any daily goal you work towards and practice each day you must practice and involve yourself into the religion as well to see the results. I feel the love God has for me and the peacefulness that comes from the spirit felt in the Mormon church and so that is why I made the choice to be a Mormon today, tomorrow, and always.

How I live my faith

I live my faith day by day. Being apart of church organizations helps me to be strong and keeps me actively growing on my faith. One of the best parts about being in the Mormon church is the separate organizations that are developed to help people in the ward and in the community. When my family first moved to another ward I started attending the Youth Single Adult ward in the area and it was a blessing in my life. The youth of that ward befriended me and was always willing to go the extra mile to serve people and especially me at that time. My faith grew from many church activities I participated in and especially with my church calling as a Sunday school teacher. I was challenged and learned so much from that calling and it has ultimately been one of the best ways to prepare me for my mission I am about to serve.
