Hi I'm Yvonne

I was born in Oklahoma, grew up in California. I am the mother of eight children, and eighteen grandchildren.

About Me

Though not an army brat, my parents chose to move frequently. I believe that the longest I was in any one school was two years and any house three. I was born in Oklahoma, raised in California, & graduated from high school in Arizona. I went on a mission to Brazil, when I returned I went on a BYU Survive Course, and latter that year met my husband, Dave. Since marrying we have lived in two places Provo and Salt Lake City. I have eight children and eighteen grandchildren. I have an associates degree in Spanish, which was very useful as a pharmacy tech. for ten years. I and Dave have visited Belgium and France where he served a mission. London, UK. and Cancun, Mexico.

Why I am a Mormon

“Honey, please come to church with us,” Mother pleaded. “When you find the true church, I will,” Dad declared, “but I know one thing – that church you're attending is not the true church. So count me out.” Taking up the challenge at age four, I committed myself inside Okay! I'm going to find that church, and Dad will come with us. Dad's parents were Lutheran and Mother was Pentecostal. He approved of neither. I began to listen to my Sunday School teachers with a purpose to find out what Jesus's church was like; so I could recognize it. At the age of twelve taught the story of Moses. As I was listening to the story, a voice inside me whispered, “If God still loves His children now as He did then, He will have prophets in His church and there will be miracles performed today like those that Moses performed, also.” I said to myself, “Yeah, that's true.” When I was fourteen, one summer I watched a movie with Dean Jagger, who played the role of Brigham Young. As the movie progressed, I became aware that Brigham Young was leading the people across the plains, like Moses was a prophet. Heavenly Father saved their crops from the crickets by sending the seagulls to eat them. It became apparent that this was a miracle. My emotions were running high. I exclaimed, “That is the TRUE church!” The voice inside announced, “Yes, it is the TRUE Church!” With great force, I felt it throughout my whole body. There was no doubt; it was true. Shortly after school started, Mother went into the hospital for an ear operation in an attempt to restore her hearing. Her roommate was a new Mormon convert. She asked if she could send the missionaries by to see us. The missionaries called. Elder Christopherson and Elder Menlove, missionaries, taught how Joseph Smith had restored Christ's church to the earth as it had been when He was on the earth and that there was a living prophet on the earth today. I barely fifteen that October, would be baptized on Saturday in November.

How I live my faith

I have served in the Primary teaching children from ages 18 months to 12 years. I love children one of the reason I have so many of my own. I served two or three years in the Young Women's girls camp organization. It was a lot of fun. At present I am teaching the 18 months old to the two year old. I also work in the Jordan River Temple as a temple worker. I am a Visiting Teacher where I give a spiritual message to the three sisters I visit monthly.
