Hi I'm Charmaine Mariano

I grew up in the Philippines. I am a Pharmacist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Registered Pharmacist. I love poetry, journalism, and swimming. I have just received my mission call.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both members of the Church before I was born. I grew up in the Church, but I didn't really have my own solid testimony until I was 20 years old. I have always chosen to prioritize my secular education over spiritual education. And that was the biggest mistake that I have done. Had I prioritized to attend Seminary and Institute classes before, I would have gained that testimony a lot earlier. But I know that the Lord has a purpose in all things. It is never too late to gain your own testimony. I started to diligently seek the scriptures and ponder on the things that I have read, and asked the Father if these things are true. One morning, I was reading a chapter of the Book of Mormon, and in the middle of silent reading my heart was filled with so much joy that I was not able to contain it. I began tearing up of happiness because I felt how much the Lord loves all of His children. This was when I knew that the things that I have just read are truly the words of God. I am a Mormon because I know in my heart that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only true church upon the face of the earth. I testify of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. And I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the Earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I invite all men to read the Book of Mormon, and ask God. This spiritual experience will change your life.

How I live my faith

I am always excited about volunteer programs. I have volunteered on a nationwide measles and polio vaccination program for children. It's a great opportunity to serve my fellow Filipinos. I am a Sunday School teacher. It is a challenging yet rewarding experience to teach investigators about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also teach the youth about the gospel. The classes are interactive. Most of the lessons include short activities that make the youth speak up and share their knowledge about the gospel.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Charmaine Mariano
It has been said that the body is a temple of God. It is a gift given by our Heavenly Father, and we must take good care of it. The Word of Wisdom is a revelation given by God through the Prophet Joseph Smith concerning the physical health of men. It pertains to the disuse of Tobacco, Alcohol, Coffee, Tea, and Illegal Drugs. These things are addictive, and pose a serious threat to our health. These may deteriorate the body systems and cause sickness and death. The word of wisdom helps us take care of the gift of physical body entrusted to us by our Heavenly Father, and we must be able to do our best in keeping it clean and healthy. Show more Show less
