Hi I'm Amanda Beitler

I'm a student at BYU, and the second of six kids. I'm taking 18 months off of school to serve a mission in Honduras. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at a university in Utah who is currently deferring enrollment to serve a mission. I have lived in many states throughout my life (Utah, California, New Jersey, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania). I have four sisters and a brother. We have a ton of fun together. We enjoy hiking, swimming, and watching movies together, but most of all we love to sing and dance in the kitchen when we are supposed to be cleaning up (it always gets cleaned up in the end). I have a deep love of music and dance. And I love to read. I am very organized, but I can sometimes be messy- although the mess is very organized as well. I am devoted to my friendships and being the best friend I can be. Overall, I am your average college-aged young adult doing her best and enjoying life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this is the true restored church of Jesus Christ in the latter days. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God along with the Bible. I am a Mormon because I know Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God to restore His church in the latter days. I am a Mormon because I know that there is modern day revelation. There are prophets called as in times of old to minister and testify to the world. I know Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God and the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a Mormon because I know that the only way safely back to live with our Father in Heaven throughout eternity is through the Atonement of our Savior, and the path He laid. I know that this is the only church with the power of the priesthood and men qualified and set apart to use those keys. I know that without the priesthood we could not partake in the saving ordinances of Salvation. And I am a Mormon because I know that through the priesthood I can be with my family forever. I know that this church and its teachings are true. I know that my Heavenly Father knows me and loves me and desires for me to return to His kingdom, and by following the teaching of our Savior as outlined in the mormon church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) I can return to live with Him again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through callings in my church, which are volunteer services that members offer. We have regular Sunday meetings, and our callings sometimes require time outside of that. My last calling was as the ward choir director, meaning I was in charge of arranging a choir and chorale pieces for a few performances throughout the year. My calling before that, while I was in high school, was the laurel class president, meaning I was in charge of helping plan activities and watching out for the girls in my age group. I am not living my faith by serving a mission, to leaving my home to teach others what I believe. But I think the ultimate way I live my faith is by striving to have integrity, and do what my Savior would want me to do in all situations.
