Hi I'm Ricardo Cervantes Jr.

My friends call me Ricky. I'm a convert. I speak multiple languages. I'm a musician. I love Football(soccer). I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been a member of the church since June 1st, 2013. I was introduced to the church after being invited to take the missionary discussions by one of my best friends, Daniel Perry. After going through a rough period of my conversion, I've grownpersonally in spirit, and testimony. I'm the only member in my family. I am serving a mission for the church starting Feb. 4th, 2015 in Lisbon, Portugal. I work at the Oregon Child Development Center; working with kids is always a pleasure. I love to play soccer as much as I can. I also love watching soccer, I support the Portland Timbers, FC Barcelona, Arsenal FC, AC Milan, Chivas Guadalajara, and SL Benfica. I am also a musician, vocally and through trumpet. Apart from that, I have the gift of speaking Spanish, English and. French, and study Catalán and Português I love my family, and I love my ward family, and above all, Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Because I have come to know the truth of this church, through the Book of Mormon, the missionaries, whether they were full time missionaries or some of my closest friends, and the Holt Ghost testifying to me that this is the true church of Jesus Christ in these latter days. That Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and was called of God. Listening to the words of the modern day prophets always gives me inspirations and always washes away any doubt that may try and creep up on me, and make me falter from the path. They give us revelation of what Heavenly Father has to answer some of our prayers, or where to look for answers. It's not always an easy decision to make, joining this church, which is why there has to be patience involved. The essence of the Gospel revolves around love, and love is patient, and love is kind. For me, joining the church caused me to be face many trials, including my family leaving me out with no where to go, not having any interaction with them for over three months and losing many close friends. But through my patience and willingness to follow him despite what others have told me, I have been blessed many times, and continue to be blessed. I know that as I serve my mission in the coming year, my family, whom which is of a different faith, will be blessed. The blessing of the Gospel are immense and so rewarding, no matter the size.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily, studying scriptures and doctrines whenever I can, in as many languages that are within my ability. I listen to hymns and inspirational music daily, before and after prayers, and throughout the day. I magnify my callings as a priesthood holder. I attend my Ward Missionary meetings, and go on exchanges with the missionaries when I have time after work. I will soon be able to receive my endowments to participate in temple work in the temple, and soon go on a full-time mission. It's important to me to be able to pray everyday, because keeping a good connection with my Heavenly Father is special, and helps me feel the spirit, especially at times when I am feeling beat and down. Also, singing hymns and listening to spiritual music is always a good way for me to feel the Spirit.
