Hi I'm Rochelle Horning

I am a Mormon.

About Me

Family is an important part of my life. I have 10 siblings and 30 nieces and nephews, with another on the way, 3 great-nieces, with another ALMOST here, 2 great-nephews, with another ALMOST here. I enjoy riding motorcycles and horses. I enjoy playing most sports. I love to laugh and hear laughter. I am continuing my education at BYU-Idaho. I have been sky-diving in Vegas, snorkeling in Hawaii, and hiking in Finland. I enjoy working with the earth and the creatures on it, whether it be through gardening or ranching. Every stranger is just a friend I haven't met yet;)

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be born into the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and given the gift of the Holy Ghost to dwell with me throughout my days as long as I live worthily of it. My family participated in early morning scripture study and family prayers. We prayed over every meal. I gained my personal testimony of the Atonement of my Savior and His glorious plan for my eternal salvation when I was a teenager. I attended early morning seminary that taught me about the Old and New Testament and the Book of Mormon. I sincerely prayed to know if my family really could be together forever, and the Holy Ghost bore witness to my soul by a burning in my chest and a clear and peaceful mind that OF COURSE we will be together in the eternities to come after we leave this earth. Because I have been given the truly inspired gift of agency, I slowly started to make unrighteous decisions in my life and moved off of my Heavenly Father's path and for the last 10 years of my life I have been paying the consequences of living without the Holy Spirit to guide me. Slowly, with the many righteous prayers of my family and friends, the unceasing assistance from my Heavenly Father, and with the divine healing powers of the Atonement, I was able to escape the gloom and captivity of my sins! In humility, my heart was turned and changed and I finally allowed my Savior into my life to cleanse and complete my torn and dirtied soul! With many heart-wrenching prayers, on bended knees, through tears and fears, I was able to plead for forgiveness through my Christ's Redeeming sacrifice. Finally I was humble enough to seek out my Bishop, a true servant of Christ, and request guidance in the next step of my repentance process. Let Christ take your burdens and sins from you. Hold onto them no more. Feel His forgiveness and let His reassuring peace confirm your soul is whole through Him! I know that through Jesus Christ we can all be healed! In His name, amen!

How I live my faith

I attend a mid-single adult ward, and I enjoy the strength I receive from them. Getting to enjoy the sweet spirit and individual characteristics of the singles in my area uplifts my soul and allows me to serve and be served by others. I participate in weekly Home Evening with my ward family, I learn and grow spiritually from weekly institute lessons, and there is monthly relief society activities and ward temple night! Institute is where I get to be taught about the scriptures the Lord has given to us. The blessings that he pours out through those beautiful words allow my knowledge of my Redeemer to grow and answers all manner of my personal questions I have. Of course there is the Sabbath day, my favorite day of the week! I am so blessed to be able to renew my covenants of baptism every week by partaking of the sacrament! Christ is the reason I will be able to return to my Heavenly Father and He will be my mediator for my salvation. He will say to our Heavenly Father, "I have paid for her uncleanliness. Through her faith your daughter is made whole." I am so grateful for The Crucifixion, Atonement, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ which mark the beginning of a Christian life, not the end of it. Each day I am thankful for the opportunity to repent and continue to strive to follow His example.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Rochelle Horning
Baptism is a sacred ordinance that Christ showed by example was the only way to enter into the kingdom of heaven. Yet Christ sought out John the Baptist to perform this ordination. Why? Matthew 3:14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. John the Baptist held the authority and was ordained of Jesus Christ to perform baptism. Therefore giving him the right to act in the name of God and bind his earthly work in heaven. Lets picture a table that is set with plates and utensils and the main course is cardboard cutouts of a nutritious meal. Now the cardboard looks identical and is solid and tangible but no matter how many times we raise that fork in the similitude of eating, we will never be nourished by the meal. However, when we partake of the sacred covenant and commandment of baptism by one who has been authorised and ordained with the restored priesthood of God, we can spiritually and quite literally take upon us the name of Christ and partake of the bread of life. What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Rochelle Horning
The Atonement of Jesus Christ was the suffering of our perfect Savior for the sins of the world. He suffered every pain, illness, and sin so He could succor everyone who has ever lived and will live! Christ's sacrifice was necessary as the only means to enter into the presence of God our Heavenly Father. What was required was an unblemished, perfect, last sacrifice, to negotiate and mediate for our imperfect, sin worn, souls. For no unclean thing shall enter into the presence of God, but through the blood of Him who has suffered innocently we have the opportunity and responsibility to lay our sins on Him and enter into judgment!
