Hi I'm Ben

I grew up in Austin, Texas. I study in Virginia, love playing drums, and work as a graphic designer.

About Me

Growing up in Austin has made me appreciate live music and bbq, as well as air conditioning. I started playing drums in middle school and still haven't found a faster way to become happy. When I was nineteen I served a mission in Paraguay for two years where I learned to crave adventure. Trying something new is my idea of a real hoot. I've scuba dived through a wrecked ship, jumped from a plane and caught shark while deep sea fishing. My wife and I have been married for a year and a half and live in Virginia. I am now twenty-four years and old finishing up a degree in Visual Arts. Upon graduating we can't think of a better idea than to travel.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a family centered on Christ's teachings, but I wasn't converted until I realized what life was like with out it. By 17 I knew enough to want to leave home and teach others what I had learned. Serving a mission gave me a concrete conviction of the actual existence of God, and his direct influence in my own life as well as those I taught. I know he hears me. I love being a Mormon because it gives me a guide in my life. I have learned to rely on His gospel as a means to make decisions. Following God makes life so much better.

How I live my faith

Growing up my Dad constantly invited all of my friends to read with us in our nightly scripture study. At first I thought it was awkward, but soon It became a source of joy for me. I realized I love talking to friends about what I believe. I spent two years in South America teaching people full time about the gospel's power to transform our lives for the better. Since returning I have had had the opportunity to formally teach both a group of nearly twenty year olds and a smaller group of 13 year olds.
