Hi I'm Melissa

I love Math. I am a dentist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a dentist, and I also have a degree in Mathematics. Therefore, I am a complete nerd. I am currently trying to develop talents for sewing and crafts. I am a cat person and have two cats named Link and Zelda (yes, nerdy).

Why I am a Mormon

My husband and I started dating in high school. He grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was not active at church after age 18 or so. He never lost his testimony and shared with me occasionally how he felt. I grew up in a small, nondenominational Christian church and was very active there. However, my family left that church when I was about 13. I never lost the faith in Christ I gained there or the values I was taught. I always knew in the back of my mind that I would investigate the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I just didn't know when. After 4 years of college, and 4 years of dental school, I finally moved home and was ready for life to begin. As I looked forward to the future, I wanted to have more spirituality in my life. I discussed with my husband our future children and what we would teach them of God. It was at this time my husband was contacted by missionaries via Facebook. About two months later, I had taken all of the lessons from the missionaries and was devouring the Book of Mormon. I couldn't put it down. Along with the peace I found in its pages, this thirst for more confirmed the truth of the Book as well as the message of the missionaries. I was baptized, and on that day, I felt such profound joy and love from my Heavenly Father. It was one of the best feelings I have ever felt. Since my baptism, I have found such joy and spiritual growth in my involvement with the Young Women of the Church. They provide excellent examples to me with their wisdom and faith. My time so far in the Church has solidified my testimony. The more I learn of it the more evident it is that it is organized through divine inspiration and that Jesus Christ is the head of our Church. I invite you to open your heart and mind to truth. Forget your doubts, and open your heart to the love of Christ. If you do this, you will be greatly blessed by our Heavenly Father who loves you more than you can comprehend.

How I live my faith

I am a leader in our ward Young Women's program so I teach lessons to girls ages 12-17 as well as planning activities for them. I also serve as an Assistant YW Camp Director for our stake. Seeing the strength of the faith of these girls strengthens me continually.
