Hi I'm Johnathan Elkins

I'm a Sportsman, Eagle Scout, Musician, Lifeguard, Swing dancer, Living History Re-enactor, and a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in The Sacramento area for all of my 18 short years of life, I love it here. I graduated high school with Horizon Charter Schools, and earned BSA's highest rank of Eagle Scout, in 2013. I'm a passionate outdoorsman. I've been on many, week long, 50 mile hiking trips in the Emigrant Wilderness and Lost Coast Trail. And I want to eventually climb El Capitan in Yosemite and summit Mount Everest! I also Love to hunt and fish. The outdoors is my favorite place to be, and with hunting and fishing you gain a new love for wildlife and the Beautiful Creation God has given us to enjoy! I mainly hunt Waterfowl even though I can't ever hit anything, and I go for upland game whenever I can. I'm also a bit of a an adrenaline junky! I love Surfing, snowboarding, cliff jumping, rock climbing, paintball, and sky diving! I've been playing Guitar and Piano for about 8 years now and I recently picked up Cello. Music is amazing and so much fun to play! I love the crazy stuff, like Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai. And also the more refined music. My favorite Pianist is John Schmidt/Piano Guys and classical like Beethoven and Bach. So I love pretty much any music that has real talent behind it! I'm the oldest in a great family of 7, with 2 bros, and 2 sisters. So it can be a little crazy at home sometimes! And I just finished up my third and last season as a lifeguard at Golfland Sunsplash in Roseville, because now I'm serving a mission in the Mexico; Mexico City Northwest Mission!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I love being a Mormon! The Gospel of Jesus Christ has given the guidance I need in my life. I can be a little rambunctious at times, so if I wasn't a Mormon I'm I would be probably be in prison or something haha fortunately I've never been in trouble with the law. Early in the year 2013, I had a friend of mine pass away. She was beautiful girl who was always doing good towards others. And was on her way to BYU Hawaii with a full ride track scholarship. But there was a blood clot in her leg with broke free and got stuck in her lung which ultimately killed her. That was a rough thing to take. But the gospel of Jesus Christ gives

How I live my faith

It's not always easy being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But it sure is worth it! I admit it is hard leaving everyone I love at home, and going to an unfamiliar country, speaking a language I don't know. I can't see any of my friends or family for two years, and I won't be able to communicate with them very often either. It almost feels like my life is about to end, because soon, the life I've come to know will be completely gone in the past, and for the next two years I'll be living a lifestyle I don't know yet. Most other missionaries I've asked said it feels exactly like that. But that's the call of discipleship! God has called me on a mission to Mexico, for a wise purpose I don't know yet. While on my mission, I will be the instrument in his hands to bless the lives of his beloved children here on Earth, and work miracles among them. I have personally seen God's hand in my life, he has blessed me beyond comprehension, and there have been many small but amazing miracles in my life. I desire for all to receive those same blessings from our Father in Heaven, and to gain a fullness of Joy while in this life, and the life to come. So I will go forth and serve faithfully with my whole heart during my mission in Mexico. I am a Mormon, and a son of the Living God! I try my best to live his gospel, and to do what he asks of me.
