Hi I'm Erika

I am currently a PhD student studying biological engineering. My focus is cancer research.

About Me

I am currently a PhD student. Specifically, I am trying to contribute to the basic mechanistic understanding of how cancer works in order to create novel treatments. I love being outside and with my family. Volleyball is the absolute best sport.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and my testimony was initially grounded in the faith of those around me. Before I was baptized at 8 , I went through a period of questioning. I finally came to the conclusion that if so many of my friends, family, and people I looked up to believed, then it must be right. Why would so many people follow a false religion? Obviously, this logic is severely flawed. Any look at history will immediately destroy my eight-year old argument. Also, an argument of mass indicating truth would lead me to a more prominent world religion. However, this logic, and a carefree acceptance of "adult wisdom", sustained me until my teenage years. During this time I was once again confronted with unanswerable questions and doubts about the gospel. It was then that I took the challenge to pray and study the scriptures. I prayed. I expected an answer. I received my confirmation. I have not doubted the gospel since.

How I live my faith

I try everyday to become a little more like Christ. This includes emulating his charity, patience, and love for all. By following his example, I can find the keys to happiness and, ultimately, gain perfection. The process of improvement is not easy, but I know that if I rely on the Savior, it is possible.
