Hi I'm Nicholas Walker

I grew up in Brigham City, Utah, and I am 19 years old. I am a performer and a singer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent high school graduate, and I love all things about music. I grew up near the mountains in Northern Utah. I have two little sisters, whom I love very dearly. I have performed in plays, sung in choirs and played concertos. I come from a divorced family, and I've experienced multiple deaths in my extended family. Through these experiences, I have learned to rely on the Lord in all of my experiences. I someday aspire to be a part of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I have been called on a mission to Teresina Brazil, and I am very excited.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my grandmother. Mormons believe that after this life, we can see and be with our loved ones again. I remember my grandmother, my hero, and the life that she led. She had Multiple Sclerosis, and used a wheelchair to get around. She also developed dementia over time. But her smile was always the brightest. She never complained, even though she had more reasons than most of us. She was the most Christlike person I ever knew, and I had a very special connection with her, ever since I was born. I love her most dearly, and I know that I will be able to see her in Heaven again. At first I felt like I was in constant pain, but slowly, I realized that that the connections in our lives don't go away after someone dies. You can feel their influence from the other side of the veil. I know that she is doing everything she can to help me from her side. I am Mormon because of my grandmother, and I know through the Plan of Salvation, that I will be able to see her again. I know of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, and I know that Joseph Smith translated it from the golden plates. I know that our Savior Jesus Christ, bled and died for me personally. "Oh, it is Wonderful that he should care enough for me to die for me, Oh it is Wonderful, Wonderful to me." I know that Heavenly Father has an individual plan for each and every one of us. And I know that He places you in groups, has you meet people, and puts you in places where you not only grow the best, but you help the best in that area, even if sometimes it seems crazy. I love this Gospel and What it means to me. I have learned that the Lord asks hard things of us, but that we are able to do hard things!

How I live my faith

I participate very actively in the religious choirs in my region, and I love to sing in church. Doctrine and Covenants Section 25, Verse 12, it reads, "For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a pray unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads." I know firsthand the Spirit that can be brought by music. I try to live my faith through my example to others. I earnestly try to be as friendly and helpful as possible, and try to smile whenever I can, because you never know the difference that something as simple as a smile can have on another person. I am very grateful for the people that have helped and uplifted me in my time of need, so I try "be there" wherever I can. I have had the opportunity to be a part of the planning processes of multiple regional activities, such as a handcart trek, youth conferences, and even conducting a youth choir.
