Hi I'm Christine

I am an Australian woman who searched for the truth & found the Gospel. I am a Mormon

About Me

I am 62 years old, and have been a member nearly half of my life. I love art & crafts, reading, gardening & many other everyday sorts of things. I like to walk, but have to motivate myself a lot, so I have a little dog. I share my life with my husband & my grand-daughter. I used to care for a quadriplegic lady for many years. I am retired. I love people, their languages & cultural heritages, and I learn a lot about others wherever I go. I am addicted to Family History & spend lots of time in a library helping others to find their ancestors and stories of the past.

Why I am a Mormon

When the missionaries met me at the door of my unit, in 1980, I was alone, sad, and searching for something. I was an active Methodist youth leader & teacher, but lacked the conviction that it was right for me. I agreed to having discussions about the gospel, which I was familiar with having read the Bible many times, however, I listened, read & prayed about what I was learning. And I did learn about the Book of Mormon too. My decision to be baptised did not come straight away, I hesitated because I wasn't sure. Then I started to have 'dreams' that I could not explain and I lost my Book of Mormon one night. I looked every where for it but did not find it, & had to borrow another. My 'dreams' were of a place where I would go down some steps into a warm pool, then come out from there into a white light. I was afraid to share this, but kept praying for an answer to my question, 'Is this what I must do, is it right for me?' I finally felt that I needed to tell the missionaries about this event, and the result was that I finally made the decision to be baptised. I found my Book of Mormon on my bedside table that afternoon, I had received my answer. I know that the Gospel is true & that the Saviour lives. I know that we have living Prophets to guide us, who converse with the Lord. I know that I am where I am meant to be. It took me 6 long months to find out if the things I learnt then were what I needed or wanted, I can tell you they were, and still are. I am a child of God. I am a Mormon. In Jesus Christs' blessed Name, I leave you my testimony

How I live my faith

I have participated in the church for 30+ years. I have been a Sunday School teacher, an Aide for a disabled child, a secretary & a visiting teacher to some wonderful ladies. My companions at various times have been young or old, & I have learnt a lot about the ladies I visit with & about myself too. I was the leader of visiting teaching for awhile, a challenging calling.
