Hi I'm Janika

I am going to school to be an elementary school teacher. I am putting school on hold to serve a mission in Brazil.

About Me

I am currently working toward a degree in elementary and early childhood education. I have a passion for education and serving others. To help support myself through school I am working with a state funded program for individuals with special needs that are in the foster care system. I love my job working with the some of Heavenly Father's choice children. I also enjoy volunteering. I have worked with different organizations benefiting at-risk-children. I have been able to provide them with the love and support that they don't receive at home due to various circumstances. You can see me outdoors running in the morning. It is the time where I can decompress and reflect without any distractions. I also love to go hiking and camping. I am blessed to live so close to the mountains and am able to go frequently.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy! There is no greater joy than that that come from living the gospel. I know that I have a Father in Heaven who loves me and wants to return to live with him again. He knows me better than anyone else. He has given me all the tools I need to return to his presence. He wants me to be happy and I am because I am trying to follow the straight and narrow path that His son, Jesus Christ, took.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my church meetings and serving others around me. Jesus Christ was the ultimate example of charity and I try to emulate him in my daily life. In most circumstances I use small acts of kindness to help brighten others day. I have learned that a plate of unexpected cookies at the end of a long day can cheer up even the most tired individual. I practice my religion not only in my Sunday church meetings, but during the week. I set aside time for my personal study of the holy scriptures. I also attend religious courses during the week to deepen my understanding of gospel doctrine and principles. I love to learn and these times of instruction from teachers and the Holy Ghost bring me happiness. They rejuvenate and bring peace.
