Hi I'm Debbie

I grew up in an Air Force family I am a registered nurse I am a mother of 5 and grandmother of 8 I am a Mormon

About Me

I have 4 sons and a daughter who are all going to college for their undergraduate or graduate degree. I finished my bachelor's degree online when my daughter started her freshman year and graduated in 2012. It was 30 years after earning an associates degree in nursing at Brigham Young University. I am the RN manager of a Quality Management department with an insurance company. I have 7 grandchildren right now--4 girls and 3 boys--and love to play and spend time with them. My sons were all Scouts and I have continued to volunteer in Scouting with my husband. I would love to attend Philmont with my husband some day. I enjoy singing, reading, camping, watching college football--mainly BYU Cougars. I am a Y-FAN

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was three and now my mom and I are the only active members from my immediate family. When I was a teenager, I made the decision to continue attending church without members of my family because it felt right to me and I realized that I needed to be there. My testimony that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father and knowing that He loves me and cared for me as an individual. I am grateful for good friends in high school who showed that they cared for me and helped me to see that I was worth something more.

How I live my faith

I enjoying teaching and completed 4 years of teaching an early morning (6am) scripture study class for high school youth. I have had the chance to serve as a teacher and leader for the children's group in the church for most of my adult life. Occasionally, I have had the opportunity to work with the teenage girls at church as a leader or camping and using my nursing skills too. Scouting has been a big part of my life-both as a young girl and after my sons joined Scouts. I have been a Den Leader, served as committee members with Packs and Troops and now on a District level. I love teaching the boys and leaders and do a lot of training. Helping young boys, including my 4 sons earn their Eagle has been a highlight along with being awarded a Silver Beaver.
