Hi I'm Harrison

I grew up in Utah, I am a missionary, a wrestler, a musician, a brother. Most importantly, I am a Mormon.

About Me

My freshman year of high school, I tried out for the Wrestling Team. I had never watched wrestling and didn't really know what it was. Some of my friends had invited me and so I went. Instantly I fell in love with the sport. The commitment it takes, the way the team supports you, and how it will always come down to you whether you succeed or fail. My first year, I won once out of about 35 matches. I didn't know what I was doing, but that didn't matter. I kept working hard, and by my senior year I had become about 10th in the state. It helped me learn how to work hard and be dedicated. It is the same with music; I play trumpet, piano, and guitar. At first, I was terrible at all of these. I started with piano as a kid. little by little i learned more and more, until i was pretty decent. I also played trumpet while I was in school. I started in 6th grade, and was really not that good. After a several years of practice, I started becoming better and better. I have gotten best jazz solo in my region, and been able to go to state. I'm not the best trumpet player ever, but I can tell a big difference from when I started in 6th grade. Whats most important out of all these things though, is to have fun. Its hard to be committed to something that you don't have fun doing.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the gospel we have is the same one that our Lord, Jesus Christ, taught. I know that the plan of salvation is real. I have the ability to be with my family forever. I know that no matter what I do, no matter how grievous the sin, I can repent and be clean. I know that God loves us and answers our prayers. He sent us here for a reason, and we are not alone. We are His children, and He wants us to return to him. I know that this is made possible through the Atonement of Christ, and am so grateful for that. I love this gospel and the light it brings to my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others. I had the opportunity to be a part of "Special Needs Mutual", which is a program put on by our church to help the physically or mentally disabled feel like they are a part of a group. It is put on once a week, and each counselor is a volunteer youth who has a special friend they help every time. I had the pleasure of helping a boy named Sammy. He has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. He can't speak, but he sure tries to! Every time we sing songs he always tries to sing along. He is always happy, and it is a blessing for me to associate with him. It helps give perspective on life, and makes my week a whole lot better. I know that no matter what happens in this life, it is all part of a greater plan for us. Now I am on a mission, and I love it. I love being able to talk to people every day and tell them more about God's love for us, Christ, and how we can live with our families and friends forever after this life. Im so greatful for the opportunity I have to share what has blessed me in so many ways with others.
