Hi I'm Ashlie

I'm married with 4 young kids. I am a personal trainer. My life is full of joy, blessings, trials, and much more. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Ohio in an active LDS family which included my parents and my 3 sisters. I had a wonderful childhood. We lived on Lake Erie and I remember collecting rocks, exploring the woods, walking to the nature center down the street, and meeting my friends in trees that we called our clubhouses. By the time I went to High School I was struggling with how "who I was" fit into my faith in the gospel. I ALWAYS knew that the gospel was true, but I began to make poor decisions that went against what I knew was right. I partied a lot over the next four years. Those 4 years included some of my darkest times. I had a good time with my friends and "fun" weekends... but when I'd return home, my good home where my parents always kept the spirit present, I would be deeply miserable. I was distancing myself from my Savior and when I was alone with my thoughts there was nothing to distract me from that fact. I knew if I continued on the path I was on I would never be happy and I wouldn't have the kind of life I knew I wanted. There were times when I thought I had made too many bad decisions that I could never be forgiven. There was nothing further from the truth though. The repentance process was hard and long, but the peace and hope that I felt all along the way made it bearable and sweet. Now, almost 12 years later, its hard to imagine that I ever felt there was no way out. I owe all of my happiness to my Savior and his atonement for me. And there is SOO much happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because it is the only way I know to be true to what I know and who I am. It is the only way to feel immeasurable peace, hope, and joy with those that I love.

How I live my faith

I am a young mom of 4 young kids. I married my best friend who is as devoted to the gospel as I am. I struggle with living up to my potential. Some days I long to just stay in bed and not take on all the responsibilities that await me. But I live my faith by TRYING. I try every single day. I improve on who I am by being better than who I was the day before. I attend my church meetings every week because I NEED the constant reminders and to partake of the sacrament. I truly love the other members who I see every week on Sunday. They have trials too and we are all there together, doing our best. They are wonderful examples to me. They inspire me and lift my spirits. Sometimes I'm able to lift theirs. I live my faith because I love my family. I want us to be together forever and I want my children to be happy. I KNOW they can be happy and successful if they stay close to their Heavenly Father. We stay close to him by making family prayer and family scripture reading a priority. I try to always remember the "Whys" of what I am doing and it makes all the difference in parenting. All the "whys" bring me back to the gospel. It is the best "how to parent" guide of all!
