Hi I'm Diane

I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am married and have 7 children and step children.

About Me

I am a grandmother. I have 7 children and 9 grandchildren. I am a semi retired special education teacher. I have lived in several states and now live in the Midwest. I like to sew, crochet, garden and work on genealogy. I play the piano and like to sing in the church choir.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Christian family but we hard ever attended church. When I turned about 11 years old, I wondered why people went to church. I started attending with my neighbors, who were also members of our family's church. While attending there, I obtained a testimony of Christ, but was dissatisfied with the way the people of the church worshipped. I worshipped on my own, curious about different churches and considering what kind of group I would want to belong to in order more fully worship Christ. When I was in high school, my cousin, who lived out west, joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and also joined the marines. I wrote some members of the military and thought he would probably like some letters. I was also curious about what a Mormon was and how they worshipped, so I asked my cousin in one of my letters. My cousin was very happy that I asked and sent me some pamphlets to read and bore his testimony to me. I found this information interesting. My cousin also said that he would give my name to the missionaries to come and teach me. I had no idea what that meant. One day at school, I was talking to a friend about religion. I mentioned my cousin and how he said he was going to give my name to the missionaries to teach me. I was shocked when my friend said that she was a Mormon and would give my name to the missionaries. A few weeks later, the missionaries came to my house and taught me. I felt a good feeling while they were there I was particularly impressed with information presented about why we are here on earth, where we were before earth life and where we would go after this life. It seemed to give life much more meaning. I took all of the lessons, attended all of the meetings for youth. I asked God if I was being taught the truth or was being deceived. I attended and prayed for many weeks. Finally, one day, I realized that it was really true and from God, not just something that was appealing to me. It is true.

How I live my faith

I teach 11 year olds at Church and sing in the choir. I also play the piano for the children occasionally. I enjoy serving my family and working on humanitarian projects as I am able.
