Hi I'm Ali

Growing up in Track Town USA, it makes sense that I am college level track athlete. I'm a hammer thrower and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As an International High School student, I have a love of learning about knew people. I love different cultures and languages and also have a drive to be aware of my impact on the world. I have been competing in track for 9 years now and went to State for discus. The last two years of track has been at the college level, throwing hammer with my twin sister and the best coach around. I love to read, cook way too much food, and play with my sister's Guide Dog for the Blind puppy in training. I hope to raise some myself after I get back from my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member since July 13, 2014 and have loved every minute of it. The gospel, which is the good news that Christ suffered and died for our sins and paved a way to eternal life, is such a blessing and a relief of guilt and shame. The constant gift of the Holy Ghost leads to a life of peace and joy like I had never felt before. My conversion is plain and simple. I had questions of the soul that I didn't even know I had. I wanted to know about what happened to people who never heard of Jesus Christ. I wondered why it seemed like God didn't talk to us anymore. I didn't believe in the trinity because I felt like I had individual relationships with Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. But really what it ended up being was that I finally got the desire to read the Book of Mormon, and when I did, I found out that it was true. I couldn't ever deny the reality of that book after I read it. If that book was true, after some understanding of what the church believed, I couldn't deny the reality of living prophets (which I didn't want to deny), the plan of salvation, and the understanding of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost and their relationship. The Book of Mormon compelled me to do good. It made me feel more peaceful. And it made me want to read the Bible more. I also was extremely prepared to receive it when I did, even if I didn't seem like it for quite a few years. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and wants me to return to him and that's why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission in the Colorado North Denver mission, where I will serve for a year and a half. I am there to love, serve and help the people find a faith in Jesus Christ and his Atonement. During this mission, I also hope that I grow as a person and become even better at showing Christ's love. I'm trying to be like Jesus and he said, "Come, follow me". I don't want to be the same person I was yesterday. I want to be a fisher of men.
