Hi I'm Lynne

I grew up in Utah. I am the mom of four great kids. I am striving each day to follow the teachings of my Savior. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am sealed in the temple to a wonderful man. We are the parents of four great kids. I love to sew, knit, watch Star Trek. I try to read the book "Pride and Prejudice" at least once a year. I just received my master's degree in Religious Studies from a major university. Hopefully I can snag a teaching position in the near future! I love reading my scriptures to gain further light and knowledge from my Father in Heaven. In 1996 our sweet 7-year old daughter, Jane, was hit by a car and killed instantly. As I watched the event unfold in front of me and realized that I was powerless to stop it, I felt the still, small voice of the spirit telling me that everything would be okay. While "okay" did not mean that she would live, it did mean that she would be forever with our family through the sealing power of the holy temple. If I could have the wish of my heart it would be to have her physically back with our family in this life, but keep the person I have become since her death. Because of this experience, I have learned much about the power of Christ's atonement which is a wonderful blessing in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

In Ephesians 4:5-6, The apostle Paul teaches that there is "one Lord, one faith, one baptism." I believe this scripture to be true and I believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the "one faith" and offers the "one baptism" that Paul was describing. I joined the Church when I was only eight years old yet my decision to be baptized at that young age has blessed my life exponentially since then. During my studies for my master's degree in Religious Studies, I came to understand other religions in a deeper way. Interestingly the more I learned the more my testimony of the gospel was reinforced. I believe that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live and appeared to Joseph Smith. I believe the true church of Jesus Christ was restored through revelation to God's prophets beginning with Joseph Smith. This is God's Church on the earth and I know this to be true. Therefore, that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I serve in my area as the young single adult religion teacher. I currently teach 3 classes per week. I learn much from my students and I am grateful for their spiritual insights. Their faith strengthens mine. I am also the director of a summer camp for young women from our Church. It provides me a great opportunity to enjoy nature with beautiful young women who are striving to stand as witnesses of God. We love, laugh, and learn together. Girls' Camp is the one of the greatest spiritual events on earth! The scriptures teach us that we should love others. To this end I also volunteer with two community organizations that serve those who are in need. I see the fruits of my service with these organizations and I am grateful for the opportunity to help others on the road to self-sufficiency.
