Hi I'm Makelle

I grew up in southern Utah, USA. I am a missionary called to the Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to hike, run, rock climb, camp, and do anything outside. I love music, good books, cooking, and trying new things. Before my mission I studied at the University of Utah, Dixie State University and the University of Iowa. I was in my senior year of studying Biology and Chemistry. Right now I'm taking time off of school to serve an 18-month mission for my church as well as be a part-time English teacher in Mongolia. I love teaching people about Jesus Christ and why His life is so important to people's lives today. I also love to teach English. I have an amazing family, whom I love very much. Besides my mom and dad I have 8 siblings, 1 sister in law, 1 brother in law, 4 nephews, and 1 niece. With my family I enjoy playing card games, cooking, and traveling. I love to travel and hope to visit France someday, where my grandfather is from. I have been a member of the church for what seems like my whole life, and that has helped me become the person I am today.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because it is the same church that Christ organized in biblical times, restored in this modern day. I am a Mormon because this church teaches about God, that he is perfect in justice and mercy, that He loves us and wants us to become perfected like He is. I am a member of this church because it teaches me the importance of family, that God wants us to be a part of righteous families and that death doesn't end marriage or family ties. I am a member of Christ's true church because I choose to live by the teachings of the scriptures and the modern day prophets, because I know God gives us direction to help us know what will make us truly happy and to receive eternal life. I know this is the true church of God because its teachings illuminate my life with peace and comfort even in my darkest times of sorrow and grief.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reaching out to others. Everyone needs a friend. Before my mission it was easy to forget about helping others when I was at school and focused on getting my classwork done, but when I saw someone that was struggling with homework or just looked kind of down, I stopped to help. As part of the calling I had in my ward I got to visit members that hadn't been to church in a few weeks to see if they needed anything and to let them know they had someone that was missing them. Now as a missionary I live my faith in much of the same way. I reach out to others and try to help them. My calling is to be a full-time missionary, so I get to help others and teach them about Jesus Christ 100% of the time.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

We believe the purpose of life is to learn how to have true joy. God knows how we can have real and lasting happiness in this life and forever. We came to Earth so our spirits could be housed in physical bodies. We came so we could choose our actions and learn for ourselves that the only way to be happy is by following our Heavenly Father in choosing good over evil. We came so we could form families and become partners with God in creating life. Our purpose for being on Earth is to have the experiences we need to become more and more like our Father in Heaven by choosing right. This time on Earth is for us to prepare to meet God and to prepare to be worthy to live in his presence. Show more Show less
