Hi I'm Phillip

I am a mechanical engineer. I work for a small company called Nicol Patterns in Katy TX. I am a Mormon

About Me

I love to be active. I don't play any competitive sports; however, I enjoy playing any sport that gets me out of the house. Right now I am enjoying and developing my skills in racquetball. I love to spend my time in the outdoors. I grew up in Wyoming and I have developed a love for the mountains. There is nothing like standing on the top of a mountain and looking at the vast surroundings. It is at these times that I feel close to God as I view his creations. I married a beautiful girl from England. Her name is Laura. She takes care of me and I can not imagine life without her. I love spending time with her. If I have the opportunity to spend time with her, I take it. We don't like to spend a lot of money, so we do simple activities together. Some of these activities include: baking cookies, playing board games, putting together puzzles, reading Harry Potter to each other, going for walks, eating English chocolate, and enjoying nature. My wife really wanted a puppy, so we recently got a Malti-Poo. This is a mixture of a Maltese and a Poodle. His name is Henry and he is a lot of fun. He is the first indoor pet I have ever had and he has become part of our family. We are now living in Houston TX and we are loving our experience.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church; however, this doesn't mean that I didn't have to develop a testimony. If I didn't believe and develop a knowledge that this is Gods church, I would not be a member. It would be difficult to keep all the commandment and continue to volunteer long hours out of my life, if I didn't have a firm belief in Christ. But I do have a strong testimony of my Savior and I will do whatever it takes to return back to Him. I do not have a one time, strong, conversion story. From growing up in the church I learned how to listen to the Holy Ghost. He has given me knowledge line upon line, and precept upon precept. The knowledge that I have gained through the Holy Ghost is as follows: God is my loving Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ is His son, God and Jesus Christ love me, Christ Atoned for everyone that has, is now, and will ever live on this earth, Joseph Smith did see God and Jesus Christ as two distinct individuals, Joseph Smith was called as the first prophet of this last dispensation, The Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ and supports the Bible. Families can be sealed together for time and all eternity. I know all of this to be true and I am continually learning though the Holy Ghost. I am a Mormon because I have received a witness from God that this is the only way to return and live with Him. He has given us a chance to come down to earth so we can learn and grow. With this opportunity comes trials and challenges; however, He has given us tools to help us through this journey. Some of these tools include prayer, prophets, and scriptures. God loves you and me. He wants us to return and live with Him. He has shown us the way. Now we must have faith and courage to follow. If we work hard and do all we can in this life to follow his commandments, one day we will have to opportunity to bath His feet with our tears of joy and love.

How I live my faith

My wife and I have a great opportunity to teach some of the youth in our ward. We teach the 16, 17 and 18 year olds. My knowledge and testimony of the gospel has increased while I have prepared each lessons. The youth of the church are so intelligent and they know the gospel much better then I ever did in my youth. Our goal with each class is to help these young men and women strengthen their testimonies. This is accomplished by becoming involved with there lives. We want to know what they did over the week and then we take their experiences and tie them back to the gospel. I will never stop learning from the youth of the church. Home teaching is another great way to show individuals in our ward that I care about their welfare. There are so many trails and problems out in the world today that it is very difficult to do things alone. The relationships developed in home teaching gives families a friend they can turn to when life becomes rough. I can't always fix the problem, but I can provide empathy and support when needed. God uses us to answer the prayers of others. We need to make sure we are ready to answer. The biggest way that I live my faith is by being an example. I know that I am not perfect and that I make a lot of mistakes; however, I know what the commandments are and I try everyday to live up to the commitments I have made with God. This is an ongoing process, a difficult process, and a life long process. I know that I will never live up to all of Gods standards; nevertheless, I will not leave this world without giving all I can to become like God. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and I am not ashamed to declare my knowledge of God and Jesus Christ. They live and I love them.
