Hi I'm Cimone

I live in a valley by the Blue Ridge Mountains. I love fried green tomatoes and being artistic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I moved around a lot growing up and as a result I love meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. I enjoy choreographing and teaching dance, cooking delicious food and spending time with my Husband and our sweet Maltese, Teeka. We adore our small southern town with all its quirks and idiosyncrasies (you can't miss yard sale Saturdays) and where would we be without Barbeque? It is a hoot living here. I am an introvert but I've learned to be outgoing when needed. I love working with people on artistic projects but I also love eating cookies and reading books by myself. I'm the oldest and the only girl in my family. My two younger brothers are on missions in Brazil and Panama. I'm so proud of them! I love being with family. We love to camp, make yummy food and watch good family films. I met my husband at a service project while at college. We hit it off right away and after dating for two years we were married and sealed in the Washington D.C. Temple. He loves technology and logic and I love everything creative and dramatic. You could say that opposites attract. Recently I left my previous job to be a homemaker and bring balance to the hectic lifestyle my husband and I were juggling between both our work schedules. We never saw each other! That decision has brought so much peace into our lives and has given me opportunities to be involved with our family, community, and church much more than before.

Why I am a Mormon

I've grown up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and my parents were members from their childhood as well. However, it is more than a family tradition. I've had many personal experiences where the truthfulness of this religion has been confirmed to me through the Spirit of God. I have prayed, fasted and read the scriptures searching for answers and they have come. Circumstances and feelings beyond coincidence have reaffirmed to me over and over that God is a loving Heavenly Father who knows me and understands the desires of my heart and has restored his gospel on the earth today to help all his children. I know the Book of Mormon is a true book. It was written by men called of God and was translated by Joseph Smith through the power of God. Joseph Smith was an honest man called of God to be a prophet in modern times to restore God's true church on the earth. I know that we needed a restoration. Many truths had been lost after the apostles died. This Church is a restoration of Christ's church when he lived on the earth. It follows the same pattern and is lead by Christ's hand. I love my Savior. He is my friend. He has helped me through some of the darkest, most trying times of my life. I know that through his atonement I can be saved and redeemed. That as I do my best to follow his example and keep his commandments he will share the yoke with me. I am never alone because I have him. This brings me hope everyday. Through this gospel I know what my purpose is on this earth and what happens after we die. I know God lives, He loves us, Christ is our Savior, and we have a prophet today, Thomas S. Monson. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that families can be together forever. I know these things through the power of the Holy Ghost as it touches my mind and heart. It brings me peace, direction, and joy. I invite everyone to pray and know for themselves if these things are true. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I love participating in this Church! It is like I'm part of a humungous family. Each Sunday I sing and teach songs to the children ages 18 months to 12 years old in our congregation. Teaching the children songs about faith, God and family is special because Ican see them absorbing the lessons in the songs and feeling the Spirit. I also get to organize monthly activities for the women of our congregation. These activities usually focus on getting to know each other better, serving others, and increasing our faith in Jesus Christ. Doing this has taught me a lot about how much we as women need each other as friends. I love connecting with them and helping one another bear the burdens or trials in our lives. I've planned and gone to many of these activities and I always feel lighter and happier after I leave. This year I also helped organize a summer camp for all girls ages 12-18 from several congregations. It was a week full of skits, star gazing, swimming, prayers, singing, survival skills, and most of all Coming Unto Christ which was our theme for the week. What a wonderful experience! It was truly marvelous to see these young women grow in their faith and testimonies of their Savior. Within our family we read scriptures daily and pray daily. This brings a special spirit into our home. We are more loving and forgiving of each other. We like getting to know our neighbors and sharing with them what we believe and hearing what they believe as well. Sundays are devoted to the Lord. We go to church, spend time with family, and serve others. Whenever bumps in the road come along I try to think of how the Savior would handle them. He is my example in everything.
