Hi I'm Miranda Walker

I live in the Pacific northwest. I'm going on a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 19 years old. In high school I did Dragon Boats. It was one of the best things I ever did. I graduated high school in 2013 and immediately started working on a fruit production line. It was a consistent 34 degrees the entire time. I was absolutely miserable for the year I was working there. But it was worth it. Because now, I've saved up enough money to fund my mission. I'm leaving in seven days and I'm super excited! I'll be going to the Mexico MTC to learn Spanish. It's quite ironic because I took five years of French between Middle and High school. Anyways, that's where my life is at the moment.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother grew up in the church. My dad was a nonmember until about five years ago. Church was something I didn't enjoy when I was younger. My parents didn't force me to go so there were quite a few Sundays when I decided I didn't want to go. But then my dad started attending church and that's when it changed. I actually started to enjoy church and everything that went with it. It became one of the highlights if my week to go to church. Then, I had the privilege to be sealed to my family in 2011. And now, as long as we all keep the commandments and try our best to do what is right, we can be an eternal family. And that right there is why I'm a Mormon. I love my family. They mean the world to me. I have the opportunity to be with them forever. Heavenly Father loved us, loved everyone, so much and to a degree we can't understand, that He made it possible for families to stay together throughout the eternities. Moving away from families, I love the principles this gospel promotes. It makes me a better person when I am living, to the best of my abilities, the standards of the church. I try to be a better person because I know that's what Jesus would do. And I love that even when I do fail, Jesus Christ as paid for my sins, for my mistakes. So, if I repent with a sincere heart and a contrite spirit I can and will be forgiven. It's amazing how comforting it is to know that as long as I'm trying my best and repenting for my errors that Jesus Christ, His atonement, will take care of the rest. I love this gospel. It affects my life everyday and I'm grateful for it's influence in defining my choices and my character. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I just recently "graduated" the youth program, well, recently being over a year but still. So I just sat with the masses for a while, going to church and siting with my parents. Then in August of 2013 I was given a calling, an assignment. This calling was to teach a class. The class for investigators or less active members. It's called Gospel Principles. I was so nervous the first class that I cried for the first 10 minutes. But, once I got into the swing of things it became a normal weekly routine to prepare and then present the lesson I researched. I came to enjoy my calling. Now though, I have a different calling. I'm going on a mission. I am dedicating 18 months to the church going and doing whatever they need me to do. I am super excited for this. Only seven days until I leave. So, now it's safe to say that I live my faith every day as a representative of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
