Hi I'm Tyler Ott

I was born in St. Louis, grew up in St. George UT. I'm a college basketball player a missionary in Oklahoma City, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I have a great family with an older brother and two younger sisters. I've had a ball in my hands ever since I was born. I was big into baseball my whole childhood, but also played basketball, golf, and any other sport that was going on at the time. When I was in 8th grade I decided to shift my focus to basketball, and there was no looking back since. I was recruited to play basketball all over the country, and chose to play at UC Davis. I played golf in high school, and was a high jumper as well. I've learned a lot in my life from sports, and use those lessons daily. I'm currently serving a mission in Oklahoma City, and it's been the best thing that's ever happened to me! It's been the most challenging and satisfying thing I've ever done in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and quite honestly never doubted the church. As I've done my best to live the teachings of the church since I was little, and I've always felt bad when I do things I know I'm not supposed to do. I've found since I was young that as I live the teachings I'm happy. Since then everything else has fallen into place. I know without a doubt that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Lord's Kingdom on the earth today, the same Kingdom He set up during his Earthly ministry. I know that obeying the commandments helps us to be happy because we become more and more like our Savior.

How I live my faith

My parents always told me that as long as I'm making my Heavenly Father happy I'm doing what I need to. I love to joke about being a Mormon, and when it comes down to it everyone around me knows what my standards are. I always love to be better, and so I love the fact that our church teaches us to constantly strive to improve. As a missionary it's been the same thing, and I've grown more than I could have imagined because of it.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Tyler Ott
I believe it's because the Church answers so many questions for us, and on top of that teaches us how to live a more happy life. The truths taught in the church teach us how to grow and be better. Show more Show less
