Hi I'm Nicholas G. James

I live in Utah. Called to the Texas Lubbock LDS Mission. I love working with those who have special needs. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah. I am the second of six children. I love to laugh, cook food, eat, watch/play basketball, play trivia games, write, hike, play with my dog named Bear, various water activities, listen to indie/alternative music, watch movies like Lord of the Rings, play video games, work with kids and individuals with special needs, etc. I also DJ'd for my high school's radio station (88.1 FM/ KPGR) for a little under a year with the moniker "DJ Shwiggydog" and had an absolute blast. I was blessed to receive my mission call this year to the Lubbock, Texas Spanish speaking mission, and I leave December 17th, 2014.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into the church, at some point in every member's life, there comes a time for him or her to find out whether or not the church is true. Throughout my life, I have been blessed beyond measure with amazing people around me including wonderful friends, neighbors, and family members who have helped to push me in order to help me become the best person I can be. Amid trials and challenging circumstances, I have found great comfort in the great plan of redemption set out for each of us by our Savior, Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. Each of us gets to experience different things in this life, many of which can bring us closer to our Heavenly Father. I have had to figure out whether this church is true or not, but I have found out for myself by the witness of the Holy Ghost that it is true, and it is an incredible feeling. As I look back and remember the instances in which the Holy Ghost has born witness of the truthfulness of the gospel, and when I remember the feeling of the love that my Savior Jesus Christ, and my Heavenly Father have for me and others as I go to the temple, read the scriptures, attend church meetings, and read my patriarchal blessing, it makes me want others to feel and to know and be able to experience similarly. It is the most amazing feeling that trumps anything I have ever felt. I hope I will be able to share this throughout my mission and the rest of my life. I have found it vital to do my part in my relationship with God in order to receive these wonderful feelings and blessings, which includes saying my personal prayers to Him, studying the scriptures every day, and trying to maintain a conduct appropriate for one who is trying to be more like Christ. I have been blessed to find great joy and true happiness from being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am going to begin serving a mission in the Lubbock, Texas area beginning on December 17th, 2014 after about a month-long training session at the Mexico Missionary Training Center.
