Hi I'm Heidy

I'm the fifth of eight kids. I studied Geography in college. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my siblings; they are my best friends. I love my parents; I can trust their advice and wisdom. I have a large extended family and live near many of them. I was raised in a small and close community, from which I have many friends, young and old and in-between. I enjoy spending time with children and have been babysitting since I was twelve. I love my nephew! Children are a treasure. Investing time, love, and understanding into children and young people is one of the most important things things that can be done in this life. I graduated from ASU in May 2014 with a B.S. in Geography and a certificate in Geographic Information Science. Studying geography in college was even more enjoyable and fulfilling than I was hoping it would be. I love learning about this beautiful and complex world that God has provided for His children. I love learning about the diversity as well as the similarity among His children throughout the world. I love reading classic literature and playing musical instruments (trumpet, flute, piano).

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the Book of Mormon. I have read it many times. I've studied the characters and stories therein. I love the history and geography of it. It makes sense to me. But more importantly, I've prayed about the Book of Mormon. The Holy Spirit has born witness to my heart that it is from God. The Book of Isaiah in the Bible contributes to my conviction of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I am a Mormon because I've seen the peace, joy, and blessings that come from living by the principles and doctrines of the LDS Church. I've seen it bless my life and the lives of others. Being a Mormon protects and inspires me. I am a Mormon because I have come to know that the LDS Church is Jesus Christ's original church restored to the earth and contains His complete gospel.

How I live my faith

I teach a Sunday school class made up of fourteen 12-14 year old kids. It can get a little crazy, but we have fun! I learn from them. I really enjoy family history research. Finding out who my ancestors are and learning about their personalities, families, and life experiences is so interesting! I can even get a little carried away; I often stay up really late researching. Since turning nineteen, I've been involved in the women's organization of the LDS Church. By interacting with and serving the many women I've met, I've made good friendships and been uplifted. For many years, I have played the piano and organ for church meetings. It has been a blessing to me as I serve others by doing this. I have gained experience and increased in confidence.
