Hi I'm Brittney

I grew up in California. I am preparing to serve a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second oldest of five children. I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and worked as a lifeguard. I love Polynesian culture and have been dancing in a Polynesian group with my younger sister for almost two years now. I am getting ready to serve as a full time missionary in the New York New York South mission, speaking Haitian Creole.

Why I am a Mormon

I often hear a story that is shared called "The Currant Bush". Elder Hugh B. Brown tells this story about an experience he had. Elder Brown was fixing up a farm he had purchased and saw a currant bush that was very large. As he cut it down to only a stump, he thought he saw a tear on the stump. After asking why the bush was crying, he thought he heard it say "“How could you do this to me? I was making such wonderful growth... Every plant in the garden will look down on me, because I didn’t make what I should have made. How could you do this to me? I thought you were the gardener here." And Elder Brown responded by saying “Look, little currant bush, I am the gardener here, and I know what I want you to be... I want you to be a currant bush, and some day, little currant bush, when you are laden with fruit, you are going to say, ‘Thank you, Mr. Gardener, for loving me enough to cut me down, for caring enough about me to hurt me...". This story is very special to me because it describes me throughout parts of my life. I have, at times, wondered why i have had to endure so much pain and sorrow. It is in those times when the Lord comes to me and tells me that He is the gardener and that He has a plan for me and loves me enough to let me go through hard times so I can reach my true potential. The potential that He has for me. I am Mormon because I know without a doubt that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church. I encourage you to read the full story of the currant bush on lds.org. I know that our Heavenly Father loves each of us and has a plan for us that we may not fully comprehend right now, but when we see His work for us, everything we have endured will be worth it. I say these things, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I am a CTR 4 teacher, which means I teach the four year old children in my ward and it is an amazing calling. I also enjoy visit teaching with another sister in my ward because we get to go to other member's houses and find out how they are doing. In the past, I have performed in a Dance Festival held by the church and got to learn dance routines from different time periods and areas.
