Hi I'm Avery

I grew up in Utah. I am one of two kids. Now that I'm 18, I have decided to serve a full-time mission. I am serving in Ecuador.

About Me

I am the son of a loving mother and father. I have one sister who is currently serving a mission in the United States. I enjoy learning. I aspire to become an Orthopedic Surgeon. I love to play sports such as golf, tennis, soccer, and wrestling. I love to travel, and I plan to see as much of the world as possible someday. When I return from serving my mission, I plan to go to BYU Idaho. While in the thirteen years of schooling becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon, I want to meet a beautiful woman and have a temple marriage. To fill my free time someday, I want to do some thrill-seeking activities such as rock climbing, sky diving, and power tumbling.

Why I am a Mormon

For the first few years of my life, my family and I were inactive in the church. When we were visited by the missionaries, we began to be reactivated in the church. Eventually, my sister and I were baptized (myself at the age of eight and my sister at the age of 11). My parents had been members before and did not require baptism. I have felt of the happiness that living this gospel provides. It is a happiness unlike any other. I have truly felt that my decision to be in this church was the correct decision by the power of the Holy Spirit. I love the members around me and they love me. I am supported in all that I do from my family and from the members of the church. I am going to serve my mission because I know that Jesus Christ made a huge sacrifice for me, and that the decision I made to serve was to partially repay Him for all that I had been given. I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

All I am doing right now to prepare myself for serving a mission is how I live my faith. From morning exercises, to personal study, and shopping for my mission I have a full schedule during the week. On Sundays however, I have a much different schedule. I wake up around 6:45 am to get ready for my mission preparation class. Church begins at 1:00 currently so, I have plenty of time in between for my responsibilities I have in the church and for some personal study. I try to do as much temple attendance as possible during the week before I leave on my mission so I can get closer to my Father in Heaven and His son Jesus Christ.
