Hi I'm Sam

I study Opera at my dream school. There is always a song stuck in my head. I collect Lego minifigures. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My Mom tells me that I was singing before I was talking. I have spent the majority of my life whistling, humming, singing, and playing instruments. I drove my siblings and parents absolutely crazy whistling along to every video game and tv show. At church, my family sings the hymns in all four parts, and the piano I practice on at home is Steinway Grand (signed by Steinway himself). Needless to say, I have lived a very musical life! I study vocal music performance at my dream school; I am training to become a professional Opera singer. I love that I get to study something for which I have a passion, and hope that with it I will be able to support a family! I feel most at home on stage, in front of audiences, and sharing with the world that which I do best. When I'm not doing something music related, I enjoy working out, building legos, and reading novels. I keep a daily journal; writing the events, thoughts, feelings, and details of every day is a great activity before going to bed, and reading previous entries reminds me of who I used to be, who I want to become, and how much I've grown.

Why I am a Mormon

It is easy to say that I am a Mormon because I was born into the church. I attended Sunday School all through my youth, sometimes begrudgingly, usually bored, but my parents always made me get in the car and go to church. As I grew up and left for college, I had my first moment of realization that nobody was making me go to church. I was a free man. When I got to school, I felt a yearning that I should return to church. When I was responsible for my own attendance, I found that it was a lot more spiritual, beneficial, and enjoyable. I was the only guy in my dorm with a set of scriptures on my desk; the companionship and relationship I have with the Holy Ghost is something that offers a lot of guidance, as I try to comprehend the rapid speed at which my life is moving.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day. The way I live my life reflects the faith i have and the values I cherish. I currently serve as a volunteer in my Church's Ward Choir, as the director. I have a lot of fun dedicating my time and talents to preparing music that uplifts and brings the spirit to our congregation. I give blood at our American Red Cross drives, help with service projects in the community, and am always looking out for people to help. My day starts and ends with prayer, which helps me draw nearer to God, and invites the companionship of the Spirit. I try to live and behave in a manner that is calm, patient, and modest.
