Hi I'm Hayley

I grew up in Las Vegas, I'm a convert, I love dessert, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, so I was always around people of different faiths and backgrounds. I was introduced to the church when I was a freshman in high school and got baptized when I was seventeen. I'm currently a student at Brigham Young University, majoring in Recreation Management. I love to read, bake, doodle, travel, and laugh! I LOVE to laugh!

Why I am a Mormon

I’m a Mormon because I know what it’s like to not be Mormon and it is not remotely as fulfilling as being in the gospel. When I was in 8th grade, I felt lonely, empty, and like life was way too hard to be worthwhile. My friend invited me to church and I went as a last resort. I went for a few months but quit once my parents told me I couldn't get baptized. In high school I attended seminary and church sporadically, bouncing between wards. From the first time I went to church, though, I never stopped praying. Each day I asked Heavenly Father for a way to get back to church, for happiness and more confidence in my beliefs, and for my parents to accept my choice to be baptized. My prayers were answered in a good friend and her family who took me to church with them and stood as examples to me of Christlike love and kindness. They made me want to be better and live as righteously as I could even though I was not an official member of the church. Seven months before my 18th birthday, I gained the courage to ask my mom about getting baptized again. I was shocked when she consented to let me meet with the missionaries. After investigating the Church for 3 years, I was finally able to enter the waters of baptism. I’ve found no greater joy in my life than living His gospel and trusting His will for me. I know that everything happens for a reason and is specifically intended to bless if you continue in faith. I know that Heavenly Father’s love for each of His children is immeasurable and that He knows each one perfectly. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that he suffered for us that we may be perfected and comforted. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that we have it here for today to help guide us through all that this life brings. I know that if you rely on Christ and Heavenly Father, happiness and comfort are available even in the midst of troubling times. I am a Mormon because I love this Church and I have no doubt of its truth.

How I live my faith

My favorite way to live my faith is to share the gospel with others in any way I can. I would not have the gospel in my life or be a member of the church if others had not done this for me, so I want to pay it forward and hopefully help others come to recognize the joy and comfort that is available to all. I continually strive to be better in everything I do, to correct my mistakes and progress so that I may become a better person and a better example of my Savior. I also teach Sunday school in my ward, and it is so much fun to share my testimony with others while also teaching them about the scriptures and the gospel.
