Hi I'm Jeremiah Abel

I'm a convert as of late 2008. Student, Father, and entrepanior. Now I'm leading a happier, more full and rewarding life.

About Me

Having grown up in a really rough home, spiritual things were the furthest thing from my thoughts. I always knew there was a God, but I had no knowledge or direction as to how to learn more. In my earlier years I followed suite of my family and found myself in a rotating door of the jail and prison lifestyle. Having a young family I began to feel the strain my choices were causing them. During my last time in prison I decided I did no want to continue leading that lifestyle, I wanted to be a Dad. I resented my parents for the way they raised me and did not want my kids feeling the same of me. I began to seek out all sorts of religious denominations. The only one that made sense and held family as a central focus, were the Mormons. I met with the branch president, began reading, praying, and building a testimony. Once I got my answer and knew what I felt was right, I moved forward without question, and haven't looked back. My choice caused that I no longer speak to any of my family members, they couldn't support the choice and are still actively leading lives of crime and deception. I have found an amazing new family within my ward family. I have people who love and care for me, my kids are happy and we are very close. Being a single father, a good father, has been a learning process; but it has been made much easier with the gospel as a corner stone.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I now know that God loves me. He has shown me, by the blessings He has given me that I do a special place in His kingdom and heart. The consistency, order, and lifestyle we now lead are ones of happiness and joy. What more could one want in this life if not happiness. My choice to convert was tough, I had to give up everything I knew including family, save my kids. But now I do not have to worry about going back to prison, I have a great career, I have also launched my own business with moderate success, my kids are happy and even though I have joint custody, they choose to be with me most often and I have to attribute it to the spirit in my home. #bestchoiceever

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving those around me as often as possible, staying faithful, and continually learn more about our Savior. The Temple, and associated blessings, have been a launching pad for my spiritual growth. Each time I go something new is made clear, the questions I bring are answered, and my desires are refocused away from the worldly desires. I now serve in a leadership position in my ward as an Executive Secretary to the Bishop. How nice it is to now be looked up to instead of looked down upon as was in my former life.
